Need a color opinion
With a Coral Red Interior + Aluminum Trim
What's a better exterior? Alpine White or Space Gray Metallic. I love Alpine White but Space Gray is growing on me. |

I would say Space Grey. Be a bit different. Grey is an awesome color choice.

Alpine white, gorgeous color, and not so many cars have it. Personally I've seen 1 in this color only on photos.

Two points to this.
First, any real car-crazy person knows that there are certain color combos that are timeless. We know black/saddletan, BRG/Brown, and of course the true "1930's roadster" color of silver(or grey) with a red interior. The Silver or Grey with red interior is classic and timeless. Second, I love AW. Didn't expect to, but I do. However, I have seen the AW/Coral Red car, and it looks goofy. It just didn't stand out at all as a cool look, it just looked weird and awkward. Go with the timeless combo. Those color combos have been around for decades for a reason, and when something "works" and is timeless, it only enhances residual value of the vehicle.

OK, first things first, the disclaimer. I'm of a vintage where the iconic sports car is red, plain and simple. My memory is even distorted toward red, if I had to bet, the Corvette in the early 60's TV series "Route 66" (shot in black and white) was red. Problem is it wasn't, it was blue then tan. My memory filled in the blanks. Also, whenever I see a small British sports car from that time it has to be red or British Racing Green to count.
Having said that, I have owned a red MG, an Imola M3, and now a crimson red 135i. Many have suggested the Alpine White or the varying degrees of black (and I include gray as a variation). All the surveys show white and black the most popular choices. As I drive by the local teen/young adult hangout in my neighborhood I have an impression of a gazillion black/white/tinted/amplified souped up Hondas. So there is obviously an age factor at work here. To me a sports car must be red. To the younger folks it seems a return to the days of black and white TV is in order. I bought a Graphite 3 series about 4 years ago. Mostly because my wife prefers conservative car colors. I drove that car for a while and while mechanically it was a fine vehicle, the complete package including style and color held no appeal. I never did "bond" with that car. It wasn't me. My suggestion is to ignore the surveys, choose what color strikes a chord in you. If you like one of the blues with a beige interior, go for it. Who cares that I'd never wear a blue suit with brown shoes? I'm not driving your car! Regards, Alex

To each his own opinion. Since it is an opinion, one can take it or leave it.
The most important thing is that one is happy with their car and how it looks. I personally really wanted a red interior. The red on the M3 and the red on the 6 Series are each very good colors. However, "Coral" Red didn't work for me. I live in a sunny area. Coral is a mix of Pink and Orange. Red, when it fades, turns to pink, whether paint or leather. So for me, a "Pink/Orange" Red would fade to "Pink/Orange" pink, and that didn't work for me. A white-pink/orange-pink car is to me.....goofy. But as I said, to each his own, and to your own be happy. If 35% of people have AW/CR and all of them are happy, then cool. Be happy with your car
