1M Tuners in Sydney
Evening,
Took delivery 19/12/11 of an AW 1M and can't get the grin off my face. I'm from a background of track based performance vehicles (Ducati's, GT3's etc), but a couple of back operations later I moved on to an currrent model M3 back in 2008. The car is probably the best road car I have ever driven, but it is very hard to extract the performance from that high revving V8 on Sydney roads. Couple that with the DCT and I never could get the feeling that I was actively engaged with driving the car (just me I know). Enter the 1M. I Like all of you, I have read everything I possibly could on the 1M and let me tell you, its better to drive in person than as described! Its definitely a throw back to a car that requires the driver to be actively involved and know a little about what he's doing. Long intro I know to get to the title of this thread and I wouldn't need to ask if I lived in Melbourne as Southern BM would be on speed dial, but here I am in Sydney (Seaforth), needing to source KW Coilovers, Akrapovic Exhaust and possibly a tune/oil cooler (after feeling the exhaust improvements first). I know where to source the parts, but don't know who the equivalent of Southern BM is in Sydney? Anyone point me in the right direction?? Thanks. |

Congrats to OP
I still think JB3 makes more power but JB4 is a better all-round tune so I'd go for that. 1.4 is one of the early versions, running JB4 with latest firmware would be much safer option anyway. |

JB3 definitely had more grunt but it was like a blonde bimbo wheras the JB4 is the beautiful brunette with the engineering degree.

I'm not a hater but find myself asking why. Why are we tuning or remapping the 1M already? Have we pushed our 1M to its limit on the track and needing more? I can understand exhaust, suspension, tyres etc, but seems strange that there's so much talk about tuning the 1M when stock engine is obviously sufficient for any type of spirited driving off track. It's not like E9X M3 owners who may need to get a bit more early zip out of theirs. Yes, I understand modding car is an addiction and unless you do everything within affordability, it's never completely what you would like it to be... but tuning the 1M for road use?

For track use why would you buy a bloated pig like a 1M?
