I thinks its for throttle response. Its not automatically in "sport" to help meet CAFE standards on the dct? No "launch control" for the manual either......

anyways.. lets just say its for throttle response.. is the button an option? I could understand shift point changes in a dct… but why wouldn't they leave the button if ofcourse… there is a throttle response caveat lets say for the manual tranny?? doesn't the sport button also open the flap in the exhaust?? does the PE exhaust have no flap??? pops and burbles are craaaaaazzzzyyyy with the pe tho..

So DCT is's have a sport button? I thought it was removed from the is completely - just always in sport mode. Read that in a review somewhere, but they had a 6MT.

My DCT has a sport button. Really improves throttle response and shifting speed.

The DCT in the 135is is the same one that's in the 2011-2013 N55 135i. Unless, of course, you have the 6-speed manual.

thanks flava.. what threw me off was when i searched in google... it lead me to a e90 post if i remember correctly.. wich had one member stating he had a 6mt with sport button.. but im not sure if he was a pre 2011 1er.. or if he drove a IS
weird.. if the button does more than shift point remap... then why eliminate it in is... theirs the point of no flap in the PE.. FINE,so button is mandatory in dct cuz of the shift point.. button is needed for a reg exhaust due to flap.. but for throttle response.... why does the mt get the hose?? i mean, the car is in "beast" mode 24/7 ... and its sucking gas like if it were in beast mode.. i kept the vert off of sport when scooting around town.. the button always was more of a "gas drain" than a "sport" button albeit the perf.. im seeing with the IS.. its always in "literally a dump purge for the gas tank" mode!! im loving the car tho.. and i was hesitant in agreeing with the no i-drivers on here.. but ,let me tell ya.. that thing was in the way .. im getting along just fine with the bt on the stock radio and the buttonless center console..

Sport mode in my 135is DCT increases shift speed, increases throttle sensitivity, and increases burble duration (and length) on overrun. Unfortunately it eliminates the up-shift burp I think because it's shifting faster.

DCT Sport mode vs. Sport button
S mode - shifter to the left = increases RPM shift point, upshifts later & down shifts earlier. Sport button - on = increased throttle response, faster DCT shifting, higher rpm shift point. Both = hold on Lucy.

Occasionally mine won't power on. I push on the OBD connector to make sure it's fully seated and it makes no difference. But if I unplug it and plug it back in (while driving) it always comes back on. It's done that since new, but only every 6-8 weeks or so. |
