Does your stick shift shake when you are in idle?

I just noticed this...when my car is in idle the shift knob (manual drivers) vibrates. Does anyone else have this or is this just me?

No. I don't even feel it move when i accelrate or decelerate, which I used to feel in my boxster. Next time I go out, I'll pay more attention.

yes, it does! also, i found that it doesn't do a constant shake, it goes from very unnoticeable to very obvious vibrations. i stopped paying attention to it after the first time i drove it though...

Replied to you PM... I actually don't have the 162's. I stayed with the 158's that came standard with the SP and didn't upgrade it...

I think the shifter shake is normal. My A4 does the same thing. When I step or let go of the accelerator it moves also.

Every manual trans. BMW that I have owned has had this. Not unusual unless it is excessive.

Not *all* manuals. A lot of American cars don't - hell, I feel nothing through the shifter on my VUE except the gates of the gears.

your shifter is attached to your transmission... which is attached to an engine.. why would vibration be a bad thing?

It's normal mine shakes too. I noticed it from the minute I first stepped in the car when I picked it up from the dealer 2 weeks ago. It's normal though. It just means it's tightly put together. My Prelude did the same thing, however the E90 shifter feels much more solid and tighter.
