Evo Magazine - lots of 1M content this month
My subscribers edition of Evo just dropped onto the doormat.
There is a lot of 1M content: 16 page group test vs Cayman R, Nissan 370ZGT and TTRS. The 1M and Cayman get 5 stars, 370 4 1/2, TTRS 4 stars. The test included their traditional lap times round Bedford Autodrome's West circuit - Cayman 1.25.5, 1M, 1.25.9, 370Z 1.27.1, TTRS, 1.27.3. Summary quote: "The 1-series M sets a new benchmark for only-car, multi-purpose, real-life ability and desireability". 3 page 1M vs E92 M3 - "The M3 is an absolutely wonderful thing. The 1M is even better". Guys, buy the mag - quality journalism deserves your £££ and $$$ in support!

This is the review I have been waiting for. Real enthusiasts putting the 1M to the test and it showing its true abilities in the hands of competent drivers. Awesome! Four tenths of a second off of the Cayman R is quite fine by me.

The M3 had a higher maximum speed (108.8 vs 106.4)m which really tells you something about how the 1M handles!

Funny they didn't clump the Evora in there. British mags think Brit cars rule. For my $ I'm staying German from now on after a year with an Elise SC. One dementional and a bit overated IMHO.
I haven't driven an Evora but sat in them. For the price I'm not seeing the quality build/fit n finish wise. The folks over on Lotus talk have all drank the "better than a Porsche" kool-ade. They're nice if you can get one for what they should cost, like $50k. A recent review has an Evora S beating a base 911 (barely). I took that with a pound of salt. Bang for the buck the 1M is untouchable. Bravo BMW! |

I've driven an evora recently...handles great and feels balanced, but it also feels quite underpowered.
