Any chance we'll get any colors other than black for the leatherette option?

If you clean and condition it every 3-4 months it really is not a big deal.

I don't want to piss on your parade, but that "leather smell" doesn't come from the leather itself, but from the chemicals used to process it.
Dead untreated skin doesn't smell so good..

Had to stick with leather, my last 3 cars were leather. My Audi and my SLK lasted great, and after 210K on the SLK, it form fits! Only problem I had was a 300ZX, thin, pitiful leather.

Leather FTW. I would take cloth over either, but Leatherette just sounds girly, and it irritates me that it's pretending to be something it's not.

Leatherette in 80+ temps during the middle of the summer sucks. Sweaty back & more than likely a sweaty @ss too. Those that have not experienced leatherette during the summer, I am telling you it does not breathe. End of story...

Wow, currently dead even split 50/50.

Can't vote because I haven't had any experience with BMW Leatherette, so I wouldn't know

For all practical purposes there is no difference in how sweaty you get between leather and vinyl. If that's the primary basis for your seating material selection, then you would have to be an overwhelming proponent of cloth seats.

I agree. I noticed no difference between our cars with leatherette (old-arse Porsche, Land Rover Discovery) and our cars with leather (VW GTI, Saab Turbo, Land Rover LR3).

But my GLI with cloth... :w00t:

Cloth is so much more comfortable and it annoys me no end that BMW-NA thinks it is 'beneath' the US market.

I agree - I've got a driver's seat with an alcantara/cloth combo in both of my cars, and really wish that BMW would get with the program, and realize that not every single owner of their cars is a trophy wife.

Trophy wives, or spoiled guidette princesses. (You're from Jersey, so I know you'll understand!)

By the way, for the record, I'll take leatherette. I have leather in my RSX, and I don't like the way the bolsters are wearing.

I'm not huge on vinyl or leather... hopefully cloth is at last an option here.

Alcantara would also be at the top of my list.
