It took a while to find a suitable replacement vehicle but then I found out the 1 was coming here and would have the twin-turbo motor... case closed.

My apologies if I made that implication that you thought the BMW would be better. I just said wow because coming from a Lotus sets your expecations incredibly high for a sporting drive. And your you a Lotus owner to consider the 135i says a lot.

No need for apology. Just giving a little background on my situation. I am very glad I have my deposit in .I'm currently 5th on the list at my dealer but some of the others are waiting for a convertible and someone always drops off. My sales rep still believes I'll get first allocation provided they don't get allotted 2 cars or something crazy.

Everyone knows that ED cars don't come out of a dealer's allotment, right? Another reason to ED.

Complete BS. NA rollout is still set for Spring 2008.

Not to mention BMW has NEVER released a new model in January.

ED is usually not available when the cars first come out meaning mid to late summer to get ED on a 1.

I'f I could have gotten away with a 2 seater as my only car a used Elise would have been very high on the list. Maintenance would be an issue because I only know of one Lotus dealer in MD and they arn't exactly close.

I figure it will still be several months before we see reviews in the buff books.

I guess we'll see, because I've got an order in for a May 12, 2008 ED.

How did you place an order for a car without an options list, color pallet, or pricing? Did you leave a deposit or actually place the order?

"Scott" mentioned mags would be test driving soon after the frankfurt so hopefully sooner rather than later on that one.

Used the German or UK options list, can't recall which. Of course, I doubt the order is any further "in" than my saleman's desk at this point, although he did say it might be possible to send it up to the next level in Denver. We'll see.

Sorry, but that's not true. With the E90, the E91, the E92, E93, the car was available for ED at the time of US release.

I got mine 2nd week of US consumption via ED, but there were people who picked theirs up the previous week.

He did as I did for my ED, I suppose. For ED, you reserve a requested date, later on they tell you if they can accommodate you. Most of the time, they can.

Tell us the salesman F--- up, your fax machine broke, or it was all a dream. The silent is killing.

Holy crap, sorry about the delay everyone. I have been out of the office the past few days on business meetings and this thread completely exploded. I got the fax and honestly it is complete garbage. It doesn't reference anything about options or pricing for anything. All it is, is basically an agreement to put a refundable $1,000 deposit down for a 135 coupe. I haven't had a chance to call the salesmen back, but I plan on calling him today and letting him know that I would like to see an order sheet with options. Like I said before it would be pointless for me to scan this up on the boards for you guys since it is all hand written on Vista BMW forms and does not show any information worth while. Again sorry for the delay in posting, but I will get back to everyone once I speak with him today.

Vista BMW is the only dealer in the country with an options list? :iono:

Just updating my previous post since I don't want to leave you all hanging again. I called and left a message with the salesmen and emailed him about a better order form that showed something worthwhile. As soon as I get a response you will all know. Either way I still take his word that the car will be in the states by January. He has no reason to lie to me about it.

I don't think you're off base at all. My dealer told me that they would likely start seeing cars in January as well but that those would likely be launch vehicles with customer cars showing up shortly after. I have heard "December build" many times. I was also told that as soon as pricing is announced the ordering will begin. I'm thinking late Oct, early Nov for order sheets (actual, not written on a napkin or with foreign pricing).

Well then that makes two of us atleast who have heard the car will be out in January (probably towards the end of the month) and not in March. Either way I have no intention of getting this car before June or July time. I am just playing along with the whole ordering process to keep all the guys on this forum as up to date as possible.

Just a quick update, no order forms or pricing for a couple of months. Only thing a deposit would do is hold my place in line when I can officially place my order for January delivery. Hope this helps anyone who is putting down a deposit.

I am very sceptical about a January delivery in the US.

I'm just reporting what I have been told. Honestly though, why is it so hard to believe? It was supposed to be March, now it is January. It's moved up two months at most and the car will be released in other countries earlier then January so it's not like they can't release it here...I dunno I guess we will know for sure in January.

I believe what you've been told Lips. It goes on sale outside of the U.S. in less than 2 months. They could send a few demos over for the U.S. dealers. I cant wait for magazines to do write-ups on this thing!
