Where did you guys route the wiring harness for the trailer? I've installed the hitch on my car but haven't yet wired up the harness. I haven't seen anything documenting the best way to run the wires either. Do you just let it run out of the trunk or have you managed to get them underneath the car somehow?

Any update on how the transmission & suspension held up to towing?? I would like to tow 2 motorcycles to TX2K next year with my 135i manual, but really cant afford to fuck up the clutch or other stuff.

Sorry about the massive delay. No issues with the car's trans or suspension even after all this time, towed maybe 20 times since.

I just purchased a Stealth Hitch for my M2 and hope to use it to launch a 3500# Ski Boat/trailer. I don't think I will have a traction problem with the wide stock rear tires on the M2, but am a little concerned about the exhausts being under water. However, every truck I have used to launch had its exhausts under water without a problem.

Cars are meant to be driven! All I can say is wow. There's plenty of power/torque available but would caution on long term stress on the transmission.
Looking at the pic. The trailer looks like it's tongue heavy and the axle/tire setup is overkill for that boat. Sorry I can't help from the wiring side but if a trailer behind the car is going to be long term, I'd make sure the trailer is balanced properly and aluminum frame with proper axle set up. All for getting the most out of a vehicle but no need for added wear and tear. |
