wrx's are solid cars. With a downpipe and cobb accessport you can usually get up past a stock STI in terms of power. I haven't read much about the 2015's new DI 2.0L, but I assume it can get similar gains as the previous 2.5 did. There are a few things in the STI that WRX's don't get. the STI has a DCCD (driver controlled center diff). it also has much larger brakes and a few other goodies like that. the Turbo in the STI used to be bigger than the WRX. (i think now the sti is twinscroll and the wrx is not...but don't quote me). they are making the WRX more like the STI with every generation so a lot of the old STI only differences are now in the WRX (6spd, wide body, si mode, etc). It makes the WRX a great deal in the cost:fun ratio. I imagine that subaru will be upgrading the STI's motor in the next year or two to answer the Focus RS. that should make the gap between the WRX and STI a little bigger.

Plan to keep the 1er as long as I can
What I'd like to buy after the 1er... probably an M2. Realistically maybe a golf gti. My previous car was an mkv golf and it's underpowered as hell but a great all around Daily driver. |

don't knock it till you try it
I like Buick and owned the last Regal GS coupe they made. However this Buick Cascada looks a bigger styled Peugeot 206 convertible... gross. Just like I didnt like the pictures of the 2series at first, I like its looks in person so wait till its in showrooms before I pass judgement. Then again I think at some angles the e88 looks dowdy but see the e30 vert looks enough to love it.

I'm 60 years old and on my second 128, which will have about 70,000 miles on it when I retire in two years. I think I'll keep this car forever (MT, RWD, NA straight-6, hydraulic PAS) as nothing else approaches its combination of fun and practicality. I might add a Cayman or E46 coupe for fun.

Curious as to what the bmw excite will be about and if it doesn't float my boat I'm eyeing something in the X line or porsche for a family oriented car.

I think I am keeping the 135 for the long haul, but at some point I may retire it from DD duties to preserve it.
I know I may get flamed for this, but the more I see of the Focus RS, the more I am thinking that it may become my DD in 3 years. It shoudl have similar performance to a WRX STI, and is FAR better looking.

Really? An M235i? You're going to say that right here on the 1 series forum? Blasphemy! Sacrilege! May the car gods strike you down!
Just kidding. The car gods even like the M235i.

I bought mine while my wife was only 1 month into pregnancy of our first kid. Kid is now 1+ and NEVER rides in my car because a rear facing convertible is simply a pain in the ass. I miss driving the family around in my car on the weekends (wife drives a cx-5). If i had to get a new car It would be....

Agera R or a P1, more realistically a GTR, Atom or Gallardo

I asked this question twice several years apart. Some things never change, the most dreamed about car always is the Cayman around here. The GT4 is a great track car, but not a DD, so I hope you GT4 fans can afford both, assuming it isn't already sold out here.
1M is cool, but there are not that many around, so you might not be able to find one when the time comes. I am always surprised at how few aspire to a current M3/M4. Also, very few fans of big V8's like C7, Mustang and Camaro dwell here. I am seriously thinking about going the big V8 route in a 2016 model.

I guess most of us like small cars with 6 cylinders. Not a surprise we would go for small, fun cars such as ours or else we would be on the 3er forums!

S65 powered E9x would be about as big as i'd want to go.
GT4 Cayman. I'm not partial to American Muscle but the 'Vettes are becoming a ridiculous value proposition.
