Okay. Agreed, but I still wont give you the 0-100 and 0-140, which are a good margin apart.

You and I both know that could come down to gearing. But I never really focused on those numbers because they are just about useless in the real world.

People spend a lot of money in mods to get their cars just couple "clicks better".

Now all you have to do is spend ~$6000 "less" on the 135i. It is a pretty damn good deal.

Don't they have the exact same gearing?

You're taking my statements outside of the ballpark. Realistically, though, people spend more to, at the very least, feel like they are going faster. If you can't feel the difference, the money is wasted. I am not so sure that you are going to legitimately feel the speed difference between the 135i and 335i.

There is no question that all you want is to get orgasmic about track test data, the 135i is a much better value. My point, originally though, was that this isnt anything we didn't expect before and, frankly, something I would have been disappointed in if we didnt get these numbers.

I honestly don't know.

I'm actually surprised at those figures, because the drag coefficient has to be worse on the 135i than the lower/sleeker 335i Coupe, unless that new underpan makes it have a lower profile at higher speeds. Quite possible.

I'm just as stumped as you. At speeds over 100 mph aerodynamics certainly plays a much more important role than weight so I would imagine the 335i would actually stays pretty close.

I would actually like to see something like 90-110 and 110-130 for both cars. Should help isolate any advantage either may have in the slower speeds.

Here's the same figures for the 335i 6MT Coupe that they tested:

Zero to 60 mph: 4.9 sec
Zero to 100mph: 12.1 sec
Zero to 140mph: 28 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.6
Standing 1/4 mile: 13.6 sec 105 mph
Top speed (drag limited): 144 mph
70-0 mph impending lockup: 160 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.87 g

These are the numbers that really impress me.....:eyebulge:

Look at the difference. It's huge on the top end. Car lengths difference.

cd is only one factor, frontal area is another. Maybe the 135i has an advantage there, or maybe the cd is better than we'd expect? I haven't seen those numbers published for either car.

How credible is C/D numbers though? I recall they did 3.9s with C63 which to me is rediculous.

Quick calculations show 140mph to equal roughly 205 ft/sec.

Does that mean the 135 would be approx. 500 feet ahead of the 335 when it (135) hits 140mph? Someone check my math. That's over 1 2/3 football fields.

Could this be misprint? I'm not voting, just asking.

I'm a little disappointed with the curb weight. Do they actually put it on a scale or are they just estimates?

Gill, you are correct, given those numbers, but it's also half a minute of out accellerating. I wonder how much ground they covered in the 25.6 seconds to 140mph? Gotta be close to a mile.

The Steptronic should be a tick faster 0-60 (unmodded) and more achievable/repeatable for an average driver.

Here is an interesting comparison of 0-60mph time (not that it is the most important factor). But it is a fact that the 135i is the least expensive car by a significant amount.

Does this seem like a long distance to anyone else? I would have thought the numbers to be lower with the 1's bigger brakes. Maybe I'm just comparing it to the new Chevy Malibu I just saw on MotorWeek (60-0 mph: 113ft.) :iono:
