They should make an M1 that beats the M3. 135i is already outperforming 335i. The new M1 should be BMW's halo. If they do an M1, my hope is they avoid a design-to-cost approach. If it's the same $$ as an M3, so be it... Carbon body panels, aggressive aero, mother-of-all motors... bring it on!!!

I sold my S2K a couple weeks ago in preparation.
As for my, I'll be going Helix. It's good thing there are so many options in terms of ECU tuning already :-D

BMW has always been more than conservative on it's official rating of their vehicles. From press release, media "invite to drive weekends", re-views and blogs all had to use the 5.3s figure given to them by BMW. These slew of secondary reviews (not previews) are the real deal. Test are conducted under their own scrutiny and at their leisure. The 335i was claimed by BMW to be 5.3seconds, yet after it was released it was widely accepted it's real performance was 4.8seconds.The venerable 135i is 198lbs lighter! 4.7seconds was almost expected! |

so it went from 5.1 sec to 4.7 sec. not that it really matters much on a practical basis.

i wouldn't say all that.... having had an Evo 8, there are several people in the community who have reached 12.9 in the quarter with stock 8s and 9s...

Wow!:eyebulge: Very impressive, I can recall more than several times in the past when anticipating my car and driver in the mail, only to be disappointed by the performance numbers of potential next cars. The G37 comes to mind. I can't wait to start modding and getting her down in the low 12's! :headbang:

A $379 mod on the 135i will see it at 109-110 mph trap speed. Now can we agree it IS a good bang for the buck?

correct, but going off what a testing company says a car can do, and throwing it at the tuning/racing/public crowd, can be two different things... lots of people got 13.4-13.6 out of a stock Evo, but there are several people up north with better skills, better track, and better gas (lol Cali) who can perform above the set standard...
