2011 BMW 128i Sport SMASHED
Hey guys, So my 2011 128i sport trim got smashed up while it was parked in a parking lot. The driver of a hyundai sedan hit the passenger front quarter and pushed my car into the next car which then pushed into the next car. a total of 3 park cars were damaged with mine taking the grunt of it... I am pending more info from the driver's insurance and my body shop. I think the damage is pretty bad, but will not know the verdict yet until the body guy takes a good look at it... I cant even find another sport model for sale anywhere (if it comes to that)!!
What hurts the most is that it was a 'rare' (i think) color combo. Red Exterior with the gray interior with the nice sport seats. Mods included M3 control arms, ST XTA coil overs, Ferodo brakes, 436m wheels.. etc etc Pretty bummed on this one. |

I think they'll total it based on auction prices and the price of parts/labour. It depends on whether the body shop quotes used parts though. Not a total loss due to high risk of repair, so definitely repair it and get it back on the road if you can. It's just cosmetic parts.
My sympathies though! |

Not sure about the driver. Might have had a medical problem. I think it is much more than cosmetic. Radiator is ruptured, steering was broken on the passenger side, pass frame rail was def moved. |

Sadly it sounds totaled. You might buy it back as a track car. Let's hope insurance won't put up much of a fight. KBB is probably $7k, but we know the market value of these is twice that. Get lots of comps from the forum and BaT and you should hold out for at least $13k.

By cosmetic I meant serviceable and repairable parts, no structural damage. Let us know what they say! |

Cars can be repaired easier than people. As stated above, glad you're not hurt.

I am assuming total loss, but awaiting confirmation. Not looking forwards to the search again as it took me about 2 months to find this car. Unless I settle for a non sport and put some race seats in. I just need a comfortable race seat as it is usually my daily driver. |

Oahwow! Start shopping and when they make you an offer tell them to find you an equivalent vehicle optioned the same. Use that for the comps.

Update!
I forgot about this thread for a bit but I wanted to update everyone. The other driver's insurance wanted to pay out $8700 USD so I fought it a little and gave them the window sticker to show it was a sport and other stuff it had. they ended up at $9300 USD and i took the check. Still sucks since i had an additional 5k in parts but it is what it is. I also learned that my own insurance would only have paid out $6,000 so needless to say ill be shopping for new insurance IF / when hopefully I can find another 128. The search so far has been grueling and nothing decent has popped up. |

Would you mind sharing the insurance companies involved? I too have a 128i M Sport and just switched from GEICO to Farmers. I have the collision and comprehensive coverages.

My wife's 2008 128iA sport was totaled a couple of months ago in a single-car accident. It had around 120k as best I can recall. Initial offer was $7700. When I was done showing what it would take to replace it, we finally settled for $11,500 and gave up trying to find another 128. She's now very happy with her one-owner, garage-kept, 2007 328ix Sport with 87k which cost us less than half of the 128i settlement. Took a month to negotiate the settlement but I wasn't giving up that easily.
