If I get 1, a tune, drop in filter and a catback exhaust (if the stock exhaust did not sound good to my ear).

Are your handling mods geared towards street, autocross or track? Does the conventional wisdom for the 135i still suggest equal tire sizes when a limited slip diff is added? The M3 bits should already allow for more camber than the 135i, if I understand correctly...

I'm not sure if the 1M and 135i hood are the same size or not but I would love to see an iCarbon hood on an Alpine White 1M. I think that would really set off the car from the outside.

Wow. I've spent $13k modding my 135 but I doubt I'd mod a 1M much at all at first. 135's need suspension mods to limit roll and understeer. Wider tires and an LSD were needed to put the power to the road. All this is already fixed in the 1M. Power mods would be tempting but I'd try to wait until I burned up half my warranty and a few HPFP's before I went that way.

Limited release now, wide release of all the sizes supposedly in January. They should be in before the 1M, and in fact I was hoping it would ship on them. The PSS is supposed to replace the PS2 on future M cars.

Amatuers, j/k...I was waiting for someone to say that they'd take the N54 out and put in a S54B32, or the S65B40, or the S85B50---like several have done with the E30 M3...
I know someone out there is gonna do a heart transplant...and I know that it will posted on here...And it would be interesting to see the numbers and how it would handle those engines, although, I think the S54 would suit the 1M quite nicely...you agree? |

Planning to keep it stock for a while, although if the 135i carbon boot spolier fits, I will be getting this.
I cant see them totally re-molding a trunk lid for a limited production car - if they have - it doesnt look much different. |

I'm not going to drive a slower car so it's gets a Dinan stage 2 or 3 flash before taking delivery. Hopefully it comes with a larger intercooler so the stage 3 flash should not be a problem. Performance pedals and 20% tint all around the BSM.

The Michelin SuperSports should be out in the US by spring, just in time for the 1 ///M. That tire is standard on the Ferrari 599 GTO and Italia, enough said...

Oil Catch Can? That wouldn't be on my top 100. What's your reasoning on it - carbon buildup slowdown. If so, it don't work, save your money and warranty by not installing one. Just my $0.02

I'd personally do this, not necessarily in this order, but more or less:
Priority 1 items: 1. Dechrome the bugger (black kidney grills, blackened side gills, prolly exhaust tips although altogether prolly aim for a new aftermarket exhaust, maybe even add the CF BMW performance spoiler though may be a tad too much, black out window trim should it come with chrome as on some of the photos released) 2. Lower him (prolly with just replacing springs, though may opt for a new suspension altogether, need some driving to determine that) 3. (someones) Camber plates (Dinan or adjustable ones) 4. Move rear tires (265/35/19) up front and run 285/30/19 rear. Wheels are 9" and 10" respectively so easily done 5. Add 10mm or so spacers to completely fill out the wheel well and make flush with rest of body. That with the lowering will do wonders for the car's looks. 6. Exhaust (may take a while for them to be developed by tuners, and options may be limited considering small production of car and tuner's reluctance to develop a low volume product) 7. BMW Performance steering wheel - new upcoming one with flat bottom in Alcantara. Hoping I can spec it with orange stitching to match interior 8. Drop in air filter 9. SSK (assuming it needs one, testers reported much closer/crrisper shifting with less travel and mushiness compared to the 135i). Ditto for removing CDV, hoping there is not one to begin with! 10. BMW Performance Seats (once again hoping they can be spec'ed with orange stitching). 11. Getting rid of incandecent AE bulbs for LED ones, dotto for 'eyebrow' 12. Various small items (tint, V1 hardwire, retrofitting illuminated ///M gear knob and rear fog lights enable, etc.) Priority 2 items: 1. Various power adders (tune, IC, intake, DPs). Considering it jeopardizes warranty, I won't be the first in line to try a new tune. Also will give me joy to drive it stock for a while and appreciate each mod's marginal contribution 2. Boost gauge (hoping I can reuse my P3 one as I love it) 3. Track wheels and rubber 4. Spruce up the interior a bit (not sure yet which direction to go, but have a trusted shop that can wrap the dash in leather with orange stitching to match rest of car; add alcantara headliner, etc.) Priority 3 1. Everything I cannot think of right now before seeing the car LOL Once bitten by the mod bug, it just never ends

I'm moving all my mods from the 135i to the 1M.
Whatever doesn't fit, I get something else. I'll wait until someone needs a R&D car in California to get an exhaust. I'll hold off until someone releases a tune for this also.

I'm not sure the wires are completely the same, although, it would seem as though there shouldn't be too many changes in the DME. I'll just buy a P&P harness for the JB4 as I'm running pin-out.

AST is a bit overboard for my needs so I'll probably settle for KW V1 or V2. I also love the stock wheels so just some spacers will do great. maybe a powdercoat to change the color though. I think the Icarbon hood and trunk will give this car the extra aggressiveness that it lacks and save some weight to boot! Nice tastes. |
