Paddle Shifters availible in US

I know that the Paddles are being released in the UK March 2008, I was just wondering if this will be concurrent with a US release, or if we will have to wait until maybe summer of 08 for the Shifters

nothing is 100 percent...but they should be available with automatic trans 1ers right away in the US.

by the way, is there a difference performance wise between paddle shifters and traditional manual transmission?

Yes there is more power lost through a automatic transmission (required for paddle shift) than a manual transmission, i.e. less performance and lower MPG. That said a manual transmission depends on the drivers abilities so it doesn't always translate into more performance. Automatic transmissions are really coming a long way and starting to rival manuals in some cases such as the 335i which was tested as quicker with an auto in one mag review.
