To sell with or without mods

Hi all - Have owned my 1M since July 2012 - VO 05/12 built - currently done 6300kms.

Love the car but it is a little too small for the family with 2 growing kids!

Mods on the car thus far include : Akra Full Evo Titanium exhaust with Carbon tips, Akra downpipe, ER chargepipe with BOV, aFE dual air intake, Evolve R FMIC, Evolve R Stage 3 ECU tune, 3 piece wheels with deep dish orange lips and gunmetal centres.

Have received a semi-decent trade in price but have to remove all mods and return to original!

Would appreciate thoughts/opinion - if you were looking for a car - would mods put you off? I suppose I could always sell the performance parts separately......

Part-out IMO. With my 135i, I parted out. Other than exhausts, most buyers don't want a modded car.

You'll get ~$5k for those parts! If you selling the Akra rear end let me know!

The Evolve-R VIN-locks though.

thanks Ian - will definitely keep u in mind once I know for certain which way I'm heading! I did have a lot of fun with the 1M though never had the time to track it!

Alvin, I believe that if you return it back to stock the car might appeal to larger group of buyers. But selling it with mods it might appeal certain buyer that wants to buy something already done. You can always give the option of buying it modified or standard. If you decide to sell it modless...definately interested in the akra DPs

In the past I have had no problems in selling my 2 previous cars that were heavily modified. A modified car always looks better than the standard one if done properly IMO.

We need to do another hill run before you sell it

Just wondering whats next car on your mind?

I'd try selling it modified. Sounds like your mods are tasteful and your car has very low km's anyway. Should easily be able to sell it to the right buyer at your asking price.

You have some very nice mods that rarely pop up in the used market. You will have no problems quickly selling your aftermarket parts.

Like the other guys, I agree you will come out ahead if you part out, it will just take a bit of time and a little work to get the car back to stock.

Good luck with your sale.

Part It out. Performance mods on a performance car for sale never gets a second look from me. The stigma of "beat to hell" is what always comes up. Plus, You wont be making near the amount of money back on the upgrades selling it as is instead of parting t out.

LOL - won't ever say Never but car owes me way too much than it's worth - spent a fortune returning it to bare metal then a proper 2-pack respray!

Definitely need another hills run - probably have another 6 weeks before sale but am going to make decision after driving one of the possibilities this weekend!

I kinda thought this too - not that I've trashed the car in any way - not even have time to drive it with having to rotate weekend drives on my cars! Prior to the 1M, I've always been a stickler for originality but never realised how addictive mods turned out to be!

I've had a flood of enquiries on the parts and am trying to find invoices to work out what I paid and to come up with hopefully a fair used price and will probably post up in the for sale thread to be fair to all.

In meantime - gonna have fun searching for the next toy!
