Ok, but doesn't the fob charge itself while in the slot. Atleast thats the case for regular fob ignition. Does Comfort access have a different type of technology.

Yes.... I find I feel quite charged after putting my FOB in the slot!!! haha.... Actually I haven't done it yet either but I was told by the CA when I took delivery I should put it in there occasionally to charge the FOB. I think once every 6 months should suffice... for the car's fob that is!

If you have CA, the key FOB does not have a rechargeable battery

See, with the Audi key, it simply springs up, ready to be inserted, and if you have to go to a lot of different places you have to remove and insert it again and again.

I don't think I will ever be able to look at my FOB the same way again.

There is still a key in the fob right, so that you can get into (and start) the car if the battery dies?

Negatory. That's an RFID tag in the fob that's allowing you into the car - it uses ZERO current. If you don't use the conventional buttons on the fob, the battery should last for years, equal to whatever its shelf life is. Even if dead, your CA should work fine - you just wouldn't be able to use the buttons on the fob.
