BMW 1M Track car (start)
After slowly getting work done and just doing repairs on my 2011 BMW 1M I finally got some more room to get some upgrades!
KW clubsports v2 BBS RIA 10.5 et22 squared from (@slicer_m) on Instagram 265 Squared at the moment will go up to 275 or 285 squared when the tire is available. Nankang AR-1 Racetech 4009 seat CAE shifter PFC 08 pads active autowerke intercooler VRSF downpipes Active autowerke Catback exhaust Dinan stage 2 tune Went to WSIR for my second time and ran a 1:33 Also went to streets of willow for the second time and ran a 1:27 still learning the line on both tracks. it was about 90 degrees on both days, had little overheating issues after about 8-10 laps but one cool-down lap made it all go away. besides of course going to the track more for seat time new mods to the 1M soon. Looking to get -Dinan oil coolers -CSF radiator -KMP Steering wheel -Stoptech trophy 6 piston kit -Motorsport24 Carbon door cards -Custom roll cage -New bucket seats (still undecided) - and new bushing all around the car If anyone has any recommendations for parts to throw on the 1M that will help let me now. IF anyone is in SO-CAl contact slicer for wheels and JMP Autoworks for any work on their cars. both are amazing to work with. https://flic.kr/p/2g8VMvq https://flic.kr/p/2g8Waib https://flic.kr/p/2g8VMiS https://flic.kr/p/2g8W9VN https://flic.kr/p/2g8WakA Some new mods and tracks I have gone to. Beautiful wheels!
I haven't yet found a need to upgrade the brakes beyond pads (also PFC-08) and stainless lines, even when running a stage 2+ tune. That may change when I go to R-comp tires, probably next year. I am getting ready to upgrade the radiator, which should prevent any need for more oil cooling. If you are running stock power, I am surprised you are overheating. I never had an issue until I tuned. MHD will allow a lower cooling target which will really put that CSF radiator to work for me and keep everything chill. I want to get a better seat and harness, but I still plan to drive the car on the street occasionally, so I am not pulling that trigger yet.

Excellent, looks great, but don't the front wheels catch the arch liners? 10.5J et 22 is very aggressive and a 265 on 10.5 is very stretched no?

One thing to mention, a lot of people compare and gauge the performance of the CSF radiator along with a fresh flush of coolant (duh!). Imo, this skews the comparison. If you've ever seen a modern OEM BMW radiator split, they have a unique design almost like intercoolers with "turbulators/finpacks"., Something I doubt CSF has? Anyway, gist of it is. A fair comparison of radiator performance would be on fresh coolant or 100% water+corrosion inhibitor if climate allows. |

My shop had cut the liners a little, and put mesh around the oil cooler so rocks wouldn’t damage it, but you are able to run them without issues, 265 is not stretched badly for track use with low tire pressure it works great waiting for the tire to come to the U.S as a 275 should come this month.

Looks like we have similar taste. I have a bit more done with suspension...Eibach front sway bar, rear camber/toe/trailing arms, all aluminum bushings including diff (built by diffsonline). I also have full Akra exhaust with a custom tune and precision raceworks coil packs. AD intercooler. Most everything else is the same just different manufacturers!
I'm running 275/35 nt01 square at the moment but once they're shot ill be moving to a 285/30 square I am very curious about your carbon door cards and kmp steering wheel, if you can get me some details that would be appreciated! ![]() |

@dimeo187 same question to you. Hows the rear end stability with your setup (especially since you are square).

It's very stable and predictable. Though, it does depend on your suspension/alignment/tire setup quite a bit and I've also upgraded my diff to a three clutch 35/60 ramps built by diffsonline.

It's hard to capture in pictures but the photo below is the OP's car (I installed his KMP steering wheel over the weekend). In person I thought the 265's looked fantastic on a 10.5" wheel. I was honestly surprised at the results. I'm a huge fan of the 1M with this wheel/tire setup. ![]()

Nankang recommended rim width for their tyres. They don't make a 275 18" Hankook Z221/Z214 optimum is generally high for a given size. |

I have spoken with tire engineers at length about this topic. I didn't consult with Nankang in this instance because I did not spec the tires for the OP, nor did I install them. That being said, every single tire manufacturer lists the rim width range up to 10.5" for 265/35/18. Also, there isn't really a single true optimum for every tire size. There are other factors. For example, you need to consider fitment onto the car, wheel / tire sizes available, and desired feel (a driver may want a more responsive steering feel - therefore a wider wheel with the same tire size will provide that). Imagine the feel of a 265 on a 9" wheel versus a 10.5". The tire will 'roll over' more easily under lateral load on the narrower wheel. Conversely it will have more sidewall support on the wider wheel. Porsche even exceeds the rim width recommendations on some of their cars (997 GT3 is one example). Another example is Schirmer Race Engineering in Germany is specifying 10.5" with 265/35/18 front tires on their builds. Not trying to argue here. Just trying to share the info that I have compiled over years of working in this arena.
