Front Windshield Sun Reflector Recommendations

Looking for a "sun screen" for the front windshield. "Standard "size at auto parts store is too big. Thanks. Nick

Hold off a few weeks. I am working with Cee Bailey's to make a template for 135i coupes. They originally made sunshields for planes but have expanded their business to cars. My dad used them for his Cayman S, and I have seen first hand how well made they are.

I made templates of the front windshield as well as the front and rear side windows and sent it to them. They sent me back the sunshields a few days ago, and all I need to do get back to them with a few minor adjustments and they will be good to go. Should cost like $60-$70 for the whole interior (minus rear glass), or about $35 for just the front windshield. These will be custom fit for the 135i and will offer much more protection and heat resistance than you're used to seeing.

Edit: I should also note they provide a handy black carrying pouch with a draw string type of thing... you fold everything up and put it in the bag in the backseat on the floor and can't even tell it's there. Much nicer than seeing the shiney reflective thing sitting in the back... protects it too!

And the BMW provides NO protection. It allows the car to get as hot as when you put nothing there to block the sun. We purchased one of those first, it was crap.

I have a product from a company called Canvas Works. It is great. I have one for our MINI and our 135. Cheaper than the BMW one, and it works far better, $35.

Here is a link to their product page

Hey Jason, thanks. I just ordered. I just sold my MINI MCS and used a carboard one from MINI--basically crap --but it did hold up for the 5 yrs here in Florida. I am loving my 135. WOW! Nick

Hey Gator,
Please PM me when they become available. I will order one for my wife's car. OR she will take the one I just ordered and I will order from your guy. Nick

I took a generic reflective sun shield from an automotive supply and cut it down to fit my SUV. My wife then sewed edging to it. It works fine but for $40, I would buy something that fits. If you are handy with a sewing machine or have somebody that is, it could be another option.

Thanks for the info on the BMW part and the other links. I was prepared to buy the BMW but will now go aftermarket.

Jim

I put almost clear 3M Crystalline tint on mine and have never needed a reflector again. I was amazed, but granted, I don't live in Florida. I'd consider doing both in that kind of climate.
