Yes, Shell has discountinued it. Also I wouldn't use it because it actually has increased ethonal mixed in there to get the higher octane. Go for something like ELF race fuel if you want to try high octane on your car. It would be interesting to see how the tune reacts to it. Given you have higher boost, I would say that it would love the extra octane!

I started off running this fuel in my previous car and found better response with the BP 98RON fuel.
For some reason there was a laggier response from the Shell 100RON fuel, quite noticable in fact. Maybe it has to do with some of the additives perhaps? Anyhoo, I'd recommend the BP fuel, although the Caltex Vortex 98 and Mobil 98 (which isn't available up here) are also meant to be decent fuels. |

yes prof. Was me who said it's no good for the car. One off is not going to impact anything. But no good long term use. Porsche Australia recommends against using this in their cars.

BMW's rubber seals are ethanol safe for constant use upto 10% concentrations. Porsche may not be using ethanol safe rubber or sell many cars in South America, so their recommendation is not in anyway conclusive.
V Power Racing uses 5% ethanol - but is being discontinued. ELF fuel is a little expensive for everyday use at $5+ per litre.....

It is not a pity at all. They used to be good but the last fill I had was very bad. Now I use BP ultimate on any car and it is much better from what I gather from a lot of people in different makes of cars.

As a point of reference, I tried the 100oct. shell fuel on one of my turbo cars last year - 2 tank fulls back to back and found ZERO beneifit or increase of performance compared to their 98 optimax (V-power as they now call it) and in fact, it returned less range - my driving style was unaltered !!!
Also as a matter of comparison, this particular car of mine also seems to respond better and give more power with V-power 98 than it does with BP Ultimate, although the BP Ultimate seems to make the engine sound/run smoother... My conclusion was that for the extra money it costs (well was it used to coast as now they're phasing it out) it's not worth it ! I would only use it, if your car has been specifically tuned to run on 100octane, then there would be an obvious advantage and justify the expense  |

I have, they rated BP 98 as the best and contained far less benzine then most other fuels meaning it was better and cleaner then the environment. I cant remember where I read it

I've used BP ultimate for ages but recently my Lib GT took to running poorly. Subaru's first question was "Are you using BP?" I said yes and they suggested I change as the current brew in Melbourne is a "winter blend" (no I don't know what that means) and is causing some issues. Changed to Mobil and sure enough the problem went away. A number of subies appear to have had the same problem. BP have admitted to the "winter blend" but apparently will not elaborate on what this means.
To be fair the 135 has not had any adverse reaction to BP althoough the idle aint smooth.

Swap between BP and Shell, depending on timing and vouchers. (Wife loves to shop at Leo's unfortunately). Always 98.
Haven't paid attention to differences between the fills, but might do so due to the "Winter" factor.
