The coolant itself may last many years but it is the additives (plasticizers, etc) that are depleated over time. Additives help the rubber hoses and plastics last much longer. BMW cooling systems aren’t exactly known for their longevity, don’t compromise by stretching out the coolant change.

Just do some repair or work every few years that requires pulling the radiator that way your forced to flush and refill lol.
Just had to replace the compressor on the M5 and it was due for new coolant haha

Regarding the radiator hoses, they'll last until the car ends up in the junk yard! I use Mercedes coolant which is cheap at $20/gallon from my dealer. When it comes to fluids like oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmission oil, etc, I use exactly what BMW says to use. You can get the correct stuff from places like ECS, FCP Euro, RM European, Pelican, BMW or MB dealers, and even Walmart for engine oil. Online ordering is the way to go. Vendors have this stuff down to a science, and you'll get things fast. I even order Mr Beef-O Puss's litter from Chewy. Having it delivered to my door beats dragging a 42 pound sack home from Walmart. Also most vendors offer free shipping on orders of reasonable size. |
