Yeah, some are lame but who cares what others think? If you come up with something that you like, do it. I have my sig on my plates...a company name thing. BTW, there is a gal down the street who has an M3 with "M3 NV" on her car, not bad. I certainly wouldn't key her for it.

I used to have a TT with a personalized plate. DeTTroit.
Alot of TT owners did something similar. Now I just have a reference to my 'gaming handle' (Nimble1) on my E46. Some like it, some don't. |

Some are cool, some are funny, some I see like 'PIMPIN' are plain stupid.
I have Baltimore Ravens Club plates on all my cars. Organizational, not vanity tags but pretty cool if you're a fan.

I was thinking of doing a vanity plate for my new e90 and talking to my brother about it. His comment was that a vanity plate is just an ego thing and just telling others FU. He thought it was redundant since a black BMW already is saying the same thing to the world. By the way, he drives a black e46. |

I had vanity plates for my first car - a Honda Civic - but it was really just to see if I could get away with it - plates read FUBAR - and I lived in Salt Lake City at the time. It was worth it for the reactions of the few people that got it. sigh - I was so much younger then.

I have my name as it spells in my native language on my plates. Maybe it is an ego, but after all I didn't do it for others, I did it because I wanted it. I did it for myself and the last thing I think about is what others are thinking about it. It is my car, my license plate.

745i owner
I saw a BMW 745i that had the licence plate "QTRTWO8"
One of my dads employees has a licence plate "NODROG" and a licence plate frame that states "a 7 year old figured it out". To say the least his name is Gordon. |

I don't want to get it because it's easier for cops to track you down and another reason to get keyed. For example, I just can't imagine putting Tallica as a custom license plate and someone scratching the shit out of my car because they think they sold out

Most personalized plates are gay.
I still don't understand why someone would put the name of the car on their license plate, it's already on the car. Also don't know why people add "my" to their plate (ie: MY 330). No sh*! its your 330, who else's would it be? [I've attached a couple of ideas for anybody who thinks that getting personalized plates makes you ultra cool. ] There are very few good personalized plates out there. I saw one recently that gave me a chuckle: CAMLTO. BTW, I haven't been around much lately, hope you all are doing well.

I probably wouldn't put a personalized plate on a BMW. I think personalized plates are more appropriate on a car that is only driven occasionally or a car that would draw a lot of attention to itself, even without the plate (i.e. an exotic sports car). Maybe this is why almost every Corvette I see has a personalized plate.
There was one personalized plate that really got my attention, but probably meaningless to most drivers. There was a car parked in front of a hospital with a plate reading: P QRS T Even though I never met the driver, I figure he must have been a cardiologist. Those are letters that represent the waves on an EKG (see photo below).

I like vanity plates. My MINI Cooper "S" reads....1FNMINI and my 330 xi reads 7 PSYCH. I also support the specialized plate to restore the Jersey Shore! To each their own....I just don't get how vanity plates denotes someones sexuality...ie: "Gay"?
