Found my unicorn

Found a car on Monday, put a deposit on it that night, without even seeing it. Picked it up today, drove 1k kms to get it. 2012 135i, 34,000kms, 1 owner, Artic White, Coral Red leather, manual, brand new rear tires, original run flats on the front. Was told it was the Premium package, but has manual seat, no garage door opener, or digital compass.

One question I have is I did manage to get my Samsung S9 connected by bluetooth, and the phone connected through iDrive, but I was getting complaints about my voice cutting out with multiple people. Has anyone experienced this before?
I bought a Scosche bluetooth adapter that I may try, to see if it works better, but I would prefer to use the built in if possible.

Congratulations on the find!

Try the obligatory - remove the car from the phone and the phone from the car. Turn off the phone, turn off the car. Then start both up and try a fresh bluetooth pairing.

Thanks. Will try that tomorrow. Just realized, it seemed to work fine for a while, just the last 2 hours of the trip was an issue.

Congratulations. An impressive find, let alone within driving range (and not, say, across a currently impassable national border).

You can look up the VIN on mdecoder.com to see exactly what it came with.

Its a weird issue, also check if the phone is overheating while it is happening. Or if Nav is trying to take over audio through bluetooth.

Just some ideas for ya.

Pics of the car forthcoming?

I tried to use mdecoder, and I get stuck in a loop of captcha. I used Bimmerworks, but the options generated don't match exactly with codes I see on some sites, but seems to work if I google the codes

I got VERY lucky with it. I had found a similar, but vert, with double the mileage, and was planning to go see that next week. The next day, this one was posted. I sent the deposit that night, and the seller was fantastic. It was only up for 2 hours, and the seller pulled the ad when i sent the deposit.

That happens to me in Private tabs in iOS Safari and in Firefox on my Mac if I have all my privacy extensions etc. enabled. Post or PM me the VIN and I'll try, if you'd like.

Tried it in Explorer, and that helped. Thanks for the tip.

Tried my phone again today, without doing anything, and it was better today. Not sure what the difference is, but working for now

Car looks great! Alas I just swapped mine for an M2 so my adventure ends with the 1 series whiles yours begins!

Amazing car with the truly unicorn spec. Super nice find - now it just needs a set of Apex rims on it ;-).

Good for you. That's what you have to do for the right car - nail in down with a deposit and be willing to travel to wherever it's at. Clean, low klicks, manual trans. - perfect. Now just put it away come winter and you'll be smiling for years to come.

It's getting an oil change next week, then getting parked with a Noco charger on it for the winter.

Congrats, nice car, you struck fast-that's the way to do it. Few more things to do for winter storage: read here: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...winter+storage

Thanks, I had a 96 Miata for 7 years before this, and have had bikes for many more years that that.
My normal procedure is change the oil, have a battery tender (Noco), inflate tires to about 40psi, and cover the inside, trunk and engine bay with Bounce sheets (to keep out mice). Good idea on raising the wipers off the glass. I also put in non-ethanol fuel with Stabil, and will park it only after the engine is hot.

Without your build or VIN, looks to be non-Sport or non-M-sport. Does it have sport seats? Happy to check the VIN for you, if I can. Just need last 7-digits.

Good show; enjoy a great car. Had mine for 10 years now.

That about covers it. We're lucky here in Canada to have ethanol-free fuel in the form of Shell 91, at least for now. Esso 91 used to be ethanol-free but no longer. Don't know how much longer Shell 91 will remain pure gasoline but at least at present it's nice to put the car up for the winter without corrosive ethanol sitting in the tank for 5 months.
