ADAC Driver Training - feeler...
Ok Guys, I have been talking to the leader of the ADAC driver training center in Nord Bayern. The brand new (15 million euro) driver training test center is located in Schlüsselfeld. That is near Würzburg on the A3 just before the A7 autobahn intersection. Its basically in the middle of Germany. ADAC Fahrsicherheitszentrum (FSZ) Schlüsselfeld http://maps.google.de/maps?rls=com.m...ed=0CE4Q8gEwAg We are limited to groups of 12 students and we would use our own cars on thier test track. They have water sprinklers and simulated ice driving and even a skid pad. They also have this cool machine(?) that induces an over steering skid as you drive onto this rug-like device built into the pavement. Well... most of their centers have that machine but I will have to double check on it. IF we have more than twelve students we could break up into two groups. IF we had less than twelve ADAC would fill the remaining spots with German students. But then the course would be taught in German. We have the option of doing just one day of driver training or two days. Its just up to us. The school can be heldon a weekend or on a weekday. Weekdays are slightly cheaper. ADAC could offer us an 1-day-Intenisive-Training for all kind of vehicles. They also have a trainer, who is can train up the participants in English. If we wish a 2-day-Training we could start 1st day Intensive-Training and 2nd day Perfektions-Training. See the ADAC web link bellow for more info. (Sorry, it's only in German). The cost for both schools would be about 300 euros w/o tax and with the student being an ADAC member (+70 euros per year). Nothing has been set in stone to date. I have only been talking to the Chef at the Training Center there. I am still waiting to hear back on the prices but they are in the ball park. So... what do you guys think? Intensiv-Training and Perfektions-Training ADAC Pkw-Intensiv-Training http://www.fahrerlebnis-bayern.de/privatkunden/pkw/pkw-intensiv-training/ ADAC automobile Intensive Training Masterful driver / interior wanted! The course for all with high expectations: water-or-the-art air barriers, spin plates and speed measuring equipment. Learn with specially trained instructors new ways. Discover and learn your car with the limits of driving physics. Are you ready for a new experience? Training content: Correct seat position, steering and view art in the slalom course Various methods of braking alternately catchy and smooth road surfaces Braking and swerving suddenly appearing obstacles Cornering the circular path, unlocking the "centrifugal forces" Testing of countermeasures in the over-and understeer of the vehicle Addition to the practical driving portion through detailed discussions, eg of various braking methods and questions about the driving physics, eg the effect of ABS and ESP Psychological issues such as the effects of stress and distraction on the responsiveness of pick up. Simulation of sudden obstacles by means of water jets or ultra-modern air barriers To catch a "break" (oversteering) brought by the use of a vehicle skid pad Use of radio for instant and accurate feedback from the trainer to your driving maneuvers. Requires a valid driver's license Duration: 8 hours Participants: max. 12 people ADAC Pkw-Perfektions-Training http://www.fahrerlebnis-bayern.de/privatkunden/pkw/pkw-perfektions-training/ ADAC automobile Perfection Training You have already completed an intensive training ADAC - and want more? Higher speeds, more difficult exercises, complete challenges? Then you are exactly right. The complexity of the exercises here will significantly increase and calls the participants in terms of attention, reaction time and stress management at a high level. Get yourself to your limits - or do you have about no? Training content: Refresher of the key skills from the previous training Increase in difficulty and complexity: you're driving a lane change with unbridled realistic speeds on the surface dynamics Combined Maneuver "Dodge Brake" at higher speeds. Requires a valid driver's license; ADAC automobile intensive training that is not returned for more than three years; Duration: 8 hours Participants: max. 12 people |

I'm in too(!)
I did get another email from ADAC. Seems the price I was quoted was without the VAT. Even still it would be under 400 euros pp for teh two days course. We can also have a breakfast and lunch and snack catered at the test zentrum for an additional 38 euros pp per day. The only real hangup is they want ONE payment for the group class. Thats like close to 4K euros(!). So I am gonna have to talk to them more. Maybe since I don't think we will have twelve people is to do a school with some "German" students. |

Yea... there are lots of hotels in and around that area. I was kind of thinking maybe we could even do a small driving tour of the Fränkische Schweiz see some castles or go for a nice dinner somewhere. Maybe another night in this area? As for a date - that is up to us. When do you guys think is best? July or August? September? Durring the week or on a weekend? One or two day program??? Here are some videos I found... |

Sound good I would go with. But June and July I have tones of stuff already planed. I would recommend sometime after mid august (24-28 of august is also bad). It’s like an 1 hour drive from my place that’s awesome.

I will attend M intensive training @ Hockenheim Sept 3th (monday) see Rick so it would suit me if it could be arranged a couple of days before, could save me a few travelling days back & forth. I would rather spent those days to do some sightseeing as you proposed Dave

I'm down, will need to be after mid-August for me on the weekend. My kid is due in July
I've done this (auf English) at the Hockenheimring, it was pretty decent there. At this new facility I can imagine it'll be excellent.

Yup, I think some kind of social event would be cool too. There is this really cool Castle near the BA area(about an hour away from the ADAC training area)... Burg Rabenstein. They do castle tours and also you can hold a nice dinner event there. They also have a low key bier garten outside too. And there is a cave they do tours of. http://www.burg-rabenstein.de/ Guys I was also thinking of August or September time frame. Lets shoot for that. |

Yes! I think the first day should be basic to medium skill levels. With some wet skid pad or lane changing stuff. Like their aqua planing training. Then on teh second day more advanced stuff. But I can ask IF they can start us off at a more higher "basic" level. |

Ok guys - I heard back from the ADAC training chef. Here is his offer to us. The problem I see it is that putting together a group booking requires us to pay a fee of 4K euros for this two day course. And quite frankly I don't have an extra 4K lying around to put up front. I think this offer is decent - but what do you guys think? AND WHEN shall we hold it?
David ............................ Hello David, we offer you a 2-day-special-Training incl. 1day intensive and 1 day perfection Training. Cause we don’t know, how many people will participate we calculate a complete price 660 € incl. small breakfast snack, lunch, snacks at afternoon on both days. (incl. Tax) per person. (without catering 590 €/person incl. Tax) Participants: Minimum 6 Maximum 12 English-speaking trainer. Would that be good for you? In which period you will offer that training? Do youu also need a hotel? click here: http://www.fahrerlebnis-bayern.de/fi...in-der-region/ |

I have not replied to ADAC on dates. They are asking ME when we want the school. ? I think(or hope) the price will come down some... the more people we have signed up for the class. I will know more in the next email from ADAC. I wanted to ask you guys what dates are best and what you thought of the price. Its nice they are throwing in food and drinks - bc normally that is an extra fee. I think staying at a local hotel would be good too. But we can work that out later. Dack |
