two very different cars, 1 is modern and the other is antiquated, doubt I have to elaborate. I'd go for the 1M that looks like a blast to drive!

To quote michifan " Ford will release more Black 5.0's than BMW 135's in a year". And who know's how many 1M's will be available. M3 performance please, the only reason ford came out with the 5.0 is because they knew the couldn't keep selling the crappy 4.6 300 hp V8 against the 425 HP V8's that the Camaro and Challenger packs. (Which by the way is the better comparison) They've had that motor for what 12-13 years. Good ole ford "if it aint broke dont fix it". For 30k base coupe yes it's a great performer for the cost, but I still believe every POS teenage punk is going to have one. So dont come out and tell me that next year when the 1M comes out that the 5.0 will stand out more. The only way is if your at an event that's meant for muscle cars. Even then everyone will have a 5.0 When I go to local events it's a mixed crowd cruisers, crotch rockets, muscle cars, imports and like I said I get more intrest in my car than my friends GT because everyone's seen a mustang. The 1 series came out in 2008 and it seems that only car enthusiast really know about them. So in conclusion everyone here can afford a mustang, but I choose my 135 because "EVERYONE HAS A MUSTANG" and in a year the 5.0 will be no different. Dont get me wrong I think that the mustang is awesome for it's price, But I doubt that in a year when the 1M comes out that it'll stand out more. Oh and I'm not a ford hater my family had a 5.0 growing up, just saying in one year it will not stand out more than a 1M |

In europe mercedes manufactures a shit ton of vehicles. Hell when I was in spain our shop truck (yes truck) was a mercedes. BMW, Audi's, and Mercs are the domestics in europe, but still I've seen more Seat's and Fiats as cab cars than anything else, And I've been to Spain, portugal, italy, and greece. |

It's weird though when I was in spain I saw abunch of 118d's I believe and 120i hatches, but no 135i's. When I talked to a spainish SA he told me that the 135i was like 45k euro's in spain and that's why not to many roaming around. That's a clean 135i by the way, looks awesome Last edited by ErvGotti; 08-10-2010 at 09:34 PM.. |

Wow, this NASA-TT prepped 11' GT looks amazing:
http://forums.themustangsource.com/f...er1982-486003/ It's going to be an interesting year with the M1 and Boss debuts. Although, if the Boss comes in $10K under the M1 my decision is made. |

I can't believe this thread is still going. Next up, Elvis Presley versus Paul McCartney. Who is "better"?!

So, you're single experience driving both cars, and that one dyno, are more accurate then the plethora of professionally tested GT's and 135i's?
When your stock 135i beats a new GT in the 1/4 please post the vid, we'd all love to see it. It would be cool. |

These two are definitely at the top of a very short list of cars I want to get next year. The 1M is going to have to look a lot more aggressive and drive better than the 5.0 for me to shell out the extra $15-20K for it.

First of all, find a different stock 5.0 dyno online. Second, Ford gives up-spec cars to the major magazines. I've used to go to these events when I worked there. The best comparison for any car is one that was purchased from a dealer. Third, I never discussed stock to stock 1/4 miles. I was specific in my car (a tuned CONVERTIBLE) that it was faster to 60 and 100 than the Mustang GT - because it is. If someone wants to drag a stock 135i coupe against the GT, I'd love to watch - but I think it will be close and wouldn't bet too much on the 135i. |

I've always said that if the Mustang was developed by Ford of Europe, that it would be taking out M3s a long time ago. Now, it seems like they have stepped up to the plate. I give props for Ford finally giving the Mustang a worthy engine, and styling. Even though, i don't really like the retro styling, i am really, really feeling the Shark nore front and the headlights. I saw a GT500 the other day, and aside form it being, "big", It down right looks "bad', if they dropped the weight of that car, that car would would probably get into the high to mid 3s in the 0-60, and low 12s to high 11s in the 1/4 .
As for the 1M. we don't really that much until BMW pops it out. And then ther is the GTS version, so you are technically looking at a car that possibly might match or beat said times of the Mustang 5.0 GT, then again, were those time done by ringer Mustangs, just like the Mustang SVT Cobra was ringer against the C5 Z06 in Motortrend's test back in the early 2000s? |

I agree. It's already a fact a stock 5.0 can dust a 135i. I sure as heck hope a $55k 2012 M car can keep up. Just be careful to not put bad gas in the M, it could cause check engine light, HPFP, ...

A mustang is just a mustang. I can honestly say out of the 20 or so car fanatics I know only 1 likes mustangs. He actually picked up a 07 GT 500 and had to have the clutch replaced and new full pump which is typical for that car. I would much rather have the factory replace a fuel pump than buy a $1,600 clutch at 20k miles.
There isn't anything unique about mustang everyone will have one just like the camaro. |

What if uniqueness isn't what I'm looking for? What if I'm looking for maximum performance per dollar, and everything else comes in a distant second?
