Car wont go into sport mode!!

Hey guys,
Recently, my car hasn't been registering sport mode. Whenever I flip the shifter to the left, it stays in D.
Also, the manual option doesn't seem to be working properly either, it goes into manual shifting mode when I press the paddles or shift with the drive selector, however it will eventually just shift itself back into Drive.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem/know what's causing it??

It's a common issue. You have a short in a harnesses going to the shifter. You need to pop up the plastic shift trim and fix the harness either by checking the plug (if that's the point where contact is lost) or fixing the harness itself where it may have been rubbed down from wear and tear.

that looks like it will solve my problem.
Definitely better than paying for BMW to do it out of warranty.
