CENTER BULGE IN THE STEERING WHEEL

I have a step 325i wighout sport. My steering wheel is flat at the center, i mean aroung the BMW logo on the steering wheel. But i see many cars have center bulge on the steering wheel, why is that?

Sport and Non sport steering wheels use different shape airbag housings
