Where are all the Asians? I am surprised no one has posted on this section. I am in Kuala Lumpur right now and just saw a 125i convertible in the showroom. So you guys and gals must be around!

I had mine (Sedonna Red) ordered in Apr and del in Aug as well. But as far as I know, since the capacity for HK has been reached full, so production on our orders actually have just started on Jun, and actually L/T only takes 2 months.

Hi Guys,

I'm from Singapore and I'm thinking of getting a 1 series but couldn't make up my mind on whether to get the 125i cab or 135i coupe. I can clearly see most of you got the pocket rocket!

Hi Russo... I used to work in Singapore. It's very expensive to have a car there. Actually, I dont know of many roadways there where you can even get a 135i up to speed. Still would be nice to have..

Hey yeah its pretty ex over here. A 130i would cost SGD$150k and a 135i is SGD $179k! And you can only drive for 10 years then need to renew the COE (certificate of entitlement)

As the saying 'do what you want but don't get busted'. There are many roads that you can go fast on. I'm sure the 135i would have no problem doin that. If all else fails, I normally go up north to malaysia for a good run.

Hello jtech, my wife also has graphite 118i. We love the car! But have to sell it because she will be moving the US soon. She does not have a good sense of how to sell a car in Manila, let alone how to sell a BMW. The dealership where she bought the car is offering only half the retail value :-(

Can you (or any other readers) make any suggestion on the best way to market / privately sell this beautiful car in Manila? I will be visiting there in mid-November, and we hope to have a buyer by the time she leaves on December 1. Thanks in advance for any tips!

hi Asians, I am from the Philippines and as far as I know and what my dealer told me, my 1-series was the very first delivered to a customer here in the country (outside of showrooms and test-drive units). I got a 116i manual (E87) and although this would surely not have enough standstill to start pushing power for the guys here in this forum (who have powerful diesels and 135s), it is actually ideal for my needs.

Once I get past 60kph, my 116i can outrun most 2.0 to 2.5 liter sedans on the highway. In Manila traffic, the maneuverability and handling is unparalleled.

Manila has been slow to accept the 1-series because of the high-pricing here. For 1.6million Phil. pesos (approx US$34,000++) for the lowest-end model (the 116i manual which they no longer sell, I think they are phasing out the 118 by the end of the year here)... well you can already get a high-end brand new Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4x4 SUV seven seater 3.0 CRDi with Invecs2 transmission.

Very few 1s have been sold here in the Phils, and I am quite happy about it. I love the 116i because it is quite fuel-efficient and that is a happy trade-off for the lack of power coming from a stop. I certainly can really go to up to 180kph (i have not tried to push to the top speed of 200kph) on out of town drives.

I have already had my car paint changed once from the new silverblue (forgot the official color name but it's a new BMW color, well new back in 2005) to Savannah.

I am planning to tune it a bit again and change my mags and change the color to a red-burgundy, and plan to change the interior color to match.

Currently I am looking for other forums for bmw owners here in manila.

Re TNLandlord, it really is difficult to buy and sell cars here in Manila. On buying, it is much more expensive because of the taxes and dealer margins. And the dealers don't give much, if any, in terms of freebies.

On selling, well just be prepared to get ripped off. Used car salespeople are really notorious in lowballing you for the price.

If you still have your car let me know I may have a buyer.
