SAP Delete?
Hey all, I decided I want to prep for headers and an oil cooler, so I want to ditch the SAP. From what I can see, I just need to put a plate over the hole on the block, right?
I realize it will throw codes, but will it hamper performance? Anyone know how to fool the car into thinking it's there so I can pass inspection? Cheers! |

Just did this on mine.
You need this cover:11727511542 This Gasket: 11727506214 Optionally the two nuts that hold it on if yours are crusty: 07119905949 I'm in the middle of getting a tune from Bob @ StageFP. I asked him to disable the trouble codes for the SAP but he has not replied yet. I assume it's not a big deal to do it but have not gotten a definite answer yet. I also read somewhere that there is a fuse to remove but not 100% sure on that either. I've driven the car around without the tune and it seems to be fairly normal. |

Thx man. Is your CEL on? I think that will annoy me but as long as the car isn't running weird I can get over it.

Right now it's on, but probably for a few different reasons lol. I did SAP delete at the same time as catless headers and N54 intake manifold (missing DISA valves compared to stock N51 tune for 3SIM). So, I probably have codes for all of that. Haven't bothered to scan it yet since I know the reasons why.

Cool.
Doesn't the stock n51 intake already have the 3 stage disa? What do you get from the n54 manifold? Just curious. Cool build. |

-Holds power to higher revs than the 3-stage manifold (i.e. above 6000 RPM) -Eliminates the failure-prone DISA valves -More linear power delivery in the mid range without the DISA transition points -Frees up some room in the engine bay making some jobs easier (i.e. starter replacement) Cons are: - Kind of a PITA to install since it requires hacking some things up - Sacrifices a little low/mid range torque It's a better fit for a weekend/track car (which my 128 is). For a DD the 3-stage is probably better. Biginboca did a full write up on the pros/cons as well as the install process here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1902505 |

So far I can't find anything on coding it out. I did pick up the delete plate and gasket from fcpeuro. I may wait until I can figure out if the code can be written out. It depends how bored I get and how much I really care about the check engine light.

I got my tune from Bob @ StageFP and he disabled the trouble codes and check engine light from the secondary air pump being removed. Just flashed it and drove it around for about 25 minutes and the check engine light did not come on.
Disclaimer - you might not pass an emissions inspection with this mod. My car is primarily for track use and I live in a state that doesn't check for emissions (FL). You also cannot just code this out with NCSExpert, it requires a modified tune for the DME. |

SAP delete complete. Kind of a b**** to get to that behind the SAP to engine bolt. Swivel socket adapter was necessary.
This likely does nothing positive for the car and a con would be the SES light. It's ugly. It's awesome to free up space though. I'm going to clean the bay up now that I can access it better. So... Y'all said I can get rid of the SES light from this SAP delete with a tune, right? Cheers |

So you just remove it and put that plate on? Which screw is difficult to get to? |

That's it. Remove it and put the plate on it. The screw/bolt facing the rear of the car was the hardest one. The front one is very simple.
