PBIR with Hooked on Driving - Today 2-4-2012
About to head over to my first HPDE this season, super excited, it's been a bit over a month since my last. Hopefully will do 4 to 5 by April (different tracks), then it's lay low for for a few months with the summer months here, will give me time to save up, and get the Oil Cooler and LSD finally... weee!
If any are going; see you there. EDIT: Videos Added 02/06/2012 Here are my videos with data overlay, didn't bother doing the first session as it was a complete waste. The idiot in me also didn't press record for the last session of the day which was pretty good, so I don't have that one, which was my best one by far.. but the second afternoon session was pretty good too. Best Lap - 1:37.50 On the vBox Video of it Second Morning Session First Afternoon Session Second Afternoon Session Some photos taken by my buddy in an A4, he comes out in a few. http://www.flickr.com/photos/yandyr/...7629203965683/

Not exactly fun; but pretty devastating for one person, a Porsche Carrera S hit the wall pretty hard. Got two tires on the grass and tried to bring the car back into the track, rather than letting it flow, rear came loose and head first into the wall. This happened right next to the hot pits, so everyone got a pretty good look at it. The front end of the car's completely done, axle broken, wheel bent, hit it pretty hard.
Other than that, z06's that refuse to point-by, lots of cool cars, and allot of inboard video that I have to edit. My first time using Harry's Laptimer with Emprum and Kiwi Wifi, the data's pretty dead on, I ran my vBox Performance box also to compare, the vBox is .2 slower than Harry's Laptimer.

I hate to be that guy! came close once last year. was spooked out with the turn the whole day. yeah some people are just stupid with track etiquette. last year a guy in a gt3 passed me around the carousel on the first lap with yellow flags. I just shook my head and mumbled "what an idiot".
Harry's laptimer is pretty damn accurate as you said. I love where you can compare your laps with all the data. vbox is better though

I am glad that guy in the Porsche wasn't hurt though, it was all fine, it's just a car.

It was a relatively cool day down here (between 75-81) all day.. I know, I know, yes that's cool for us. Didn't have much of a problem with heat soak, Oil Temps were constantly between 250-270 nothing higher, I thought that part was pretty awesome. The suspension work, neg camber sway bar all make a huge difference. From previous track days, this is my first with the Vorshlag and that made the biggest difference in understeer, I dare say, sometimes even a bit of oversteer The Cobb is awesome at the track, I've ran stg 2 agg before and this time kicked up a notch to stg2+Sport which is the most aggressive for 91 octane. Although I have access to 93, I didn't want to kill the car running too aggressive without race gas so it was a nice compromise. I'm running stock wheels and RE-11s for now; but have some Kosei K1s with RS-3s coming in next week. My plan is to wear the RS-3s down, and then go NT01s on the K1s and some Super Sports on my stock wheels, but can't afford everything at the same time, so doing the transition of going through the RS-3s for now while I recover and I'm able to get the others. Here's a quick video of my best lap of the day.. more coming, just need to sync the data... damn Dashware won't recognize RPM/Gear/Throttle from the log.. sent them an email to see if they can fix.

No I didn't. I think I only encountered you on the track twice yesterday. How about those Corvette drivers. I almost rearended the ZR1 multiple times going through turn 6, 7, 8, and 9 lol. None of the other vette drivers would point me by either. It was kind of annoying. I'm actually impressed how well my car did considering it is stock besides koni yellows, and springs.

The really bad ones though, were the school vettes, even their instructors wouldn't tell them to point by, those were annoying me. This is a pretty good picture of them being blue flagged! http://www.trackweekend.com/photos/5827062/91084902/

Very nice! Only thing i've always heard and been told is too keep your hands at 9 and 3 vs 10 and 2...

Yea, it's a confort thing; I try to, but have to keep telling my self that. They subconsciously go back to 10 and 2, or 9 and 2.. Old habit, needs fixing.

So I didn't order Kosei K1s and RS-3s.... I ended up ordering Kosei K1s and NT01s .. weee... 245/45/17 all around, hopefully with my camber, that fits.

It was a very technical track, lots of long "slow" winding turns; some of them may be faster with a "double apex" but I'm not there yet.. that back straight is pretty awesome; fastest speed for me there was 137MPH I believe. Some corvettes were hitting close to 150.
