plans for the car in the spring?

it's never too early to start thinking about ideas & mods for the car for the 2012 season! i mean, it's only 2-3 months away

me, i'll be taking a few things out of the 1 since she's won't be getting tracked/autocrossed anymore. camber plates and harnesses for sure. not sure if it'll be worth bothering with the E93 front control arms/tension rods/sway bar

she's also prime for a good polishing. clayed and sealed before winter storage, so it's a quick dawn wash then bust out the flexxxxxxxx

Provided I dont have to pay the 3K for my injector failure that money is going to a new suspension. At 70K the stock suspension gets scary floaty

So you will be using your '88 M3 as the autocross car this year? When did you pick that up? I expect a ride if I am back this year...

FYI, I may end up back in the area in time for auto-x season... though whether I have a suitable car for it is still TBD. (My current opinion is that any car is a suitable auto-x car as long as it isn't going to fall apart.)

If confirmed, I may be posting a thread soliciting input on some car options. Unfortunately, the 1-series may be off the list because we may be looking at children in the near future and 4 doors is essentially a necessity (especially if we only have one car).

the M3 will be my go-to for all autocross/track stuff. she was a blast on a fun rally in the fall, tho the harnesses proved a PITA for getting in/out to verify clues etc. and of course you can have a ride anytime...as long as i'm not chasing 1st place by tenths!

back in the area? autocross? the?? nice buddy! temporarily or permanently?

keeping an eye out for said update/post

My suspension at speed on the highway floats everywhere...its kinda unnerving.

Two differences tho, does Rachel drive her car in the winter? I drive through blizzards on a regular basis, snow like mine is much rougher on suspensions. The second difference is that my car hauls around an extra 400 lbs on the same shocks. I also autox quite a bit.

Does she go to the Berkshires or Killington often? Honestly thats the only way our winters could compare. Im in Syracuse year round, its not uncommon for me to go out in 6-12 inches of fresh, unplowed stuff. Its a bumpy ride, one that takes its toll on shocks.

Im also ridiculously comforting in my car in the snow. It drive to and from Syracuse and NYC all the time, during the winter its very uncommon to not see a few inches in the mountains, and I keep it going at a decent pace despite the snow (Like I said, im stupid comfortable in it, I out drive most of the people in 4x4s without putting myself or anyone else in danger) The same goes when I go up to Maine to my friends cabin, unpaved road for the last few miles to his cabin unfortunately.

Like I said, its a bit of abuse and I try to minimize it, but stuff like that kills shocks.

And it was a lucky guess. I remember seeing her 100K post a few months back and took a shot in the dark when you said "her"

Also sorry, I just realized I broke into your New England subforum. I really need to stop blindly clicking links off of my New Posts tab.

DPs and a FMIC in the spring...P3 boost gauge going in tomorrow, with spacers waiting for spring on a shelf. Who knows what else by then

I'm still debating on getting an E92 M3 like Larry or buying coilovers and camber plates for the 1

Stuff I already have for my 1,

Rear fog light switch
Shadowline 135i badge
Reinstall BMS WW meth kit
BMS oil catch can
CDV

Although I'm still torn between modding the 1 or selling it and buying a E92 M3.

Did you get rid of the CTS-V and replace it with a 330xi?
