What happened to the registry. I can't find it anymore. This link says you need access?

Nice find, and black it's the lowest production color of the 1M. If you manage to get it at a good price, that would be a nice deal.

Looks like minimal damage as well. Maybe Oil Cooler, maybe intercooler, fender liner, front bumper and crash support behind it. Can't imagine there would be any frame issues, impact looks pretty light.

Would be an amazing pickup if the price was low enough.

^ I agree, there is a chance that the frame could've been pushed into the unibody depending on what was hit but it does seem rather minimal from pics. Likely standard insurance policy (not Hagerty) and due to miles just totaled out.

Both rear wheels are missing sizable chunks and the rears of both rocker panels are damaged. How'd that happen with a light front impact? I'm guessing he hopped a curb and then ran into something so there's bound to be some suspension damage and more. Frame or at least subframe damage seems very possible to me.

I missed that damage on the wheels, nice catch. Interesting that the fronts aren't damaged it seems.

There are 25 known salvage title cars that have surfaced online, but I'm sure there are plenty more hiding out there.

Pool together $300 and I can run the VIN reports to get the full picture for all the cars sold in the US.

Yes, there is definitely more damage than it looks like or it wouldn't be on copart, and buying a 1M in this condition defeats the purpose.

Some people have 1Ms so that they can be driven you know? Not sure what purpose you're talking about but not all owners are in for the long term investment.

I ran a carfax on it which describes the damage as "very minor" (carfax's words, not mine.

4 owner car.

it has an accident before this where it appears to have been rear ended (car had less than 900 miles when that happened).

Owning a 1M for driving OR investment is really, really silly. The main "valid" reasons for ownership are status or collection. That's it.

If you want to drive that car get a 135i with much greater marginal utility, or for 1M money, ridiculously higher performance. Seriously, do you know what $50K+ can do to a 135i, including the outright purchase of the car? Here's a list:

--Modify track and geometry to match or exceed 1M specs
--Modify with much better dampers than 1M
--Modify with much better aftermarket diff
--Change steering rack for tighter, if you're into that
--Ridiculous power. How much do you want?
--Optionally comes stock with dual clutch, blowing man trans out of the water for hard driving
--Money probably left over for other stuff, depending on how extravagant you went on the foregoing

Oh and if you want to invest long term look at the stock market.

Yes, I do know what $50K can do to a 135i.

I had a long reply written up to address your points, but I'll just say that the above, specifically "Owning a 1M for driving OR investment is really, really silly" is your opinion.

I drive the value and status out of my car every day. Most people don't give it a second look as it looks pretty much like every other white BMW on the street.

IMO, ONLY a car enthusiast is going to notice the difference.

To the layman, the only thing that sets it apart is mine never goes through a Starbucks drive thru.

Say what? Owning it for status? Are you serious? It has virtually 0 status. Its an inexpensive 9 year old bmw.

Owning for driving is silly? Is this a troll post? It is a blast to drive, more so than a 135i. And not everyone wants a modded car or needs to save a few pennies buy pimping out a 135i.
