Making a 255 fit on that spec in the rear will be really aggressive and need some camber and fender mods. 235 square is totally possible with a minimum of -2.5° of camber up front. The N5Tuner fenders don't change where you will rub, which is the bumper to fender mount bolt. Thus, I see them as a waste. I run 19x8.5 ET35 with a 225/35 up front and -2.5° of camber and get slight rubbing on the bumper mount bolt. You could maybe get a 235 in there, but a higher offset like ET37-40 would be preferred in which you'd be able to fit that 235 or 245 you desire.

So for the bumper mount bolt would a bumper quick release dissolve the need for that? Haven't started crawling under my car yet, still researching at the moment.

Also looking into e9X m3 complete rear end to solve the LSD problem. Plus you gain 20mm of narrower track total width. If I've researched correctly....

Apex Arc 8 in 18X8.5 ET45 on a Square 245/35-18 Continental Extreme Contact Sport tire.

Car is a 128I M Sport. No rubbing issues whatsoever on the stock suspension and they fill up the area nicely. Crappy Pic...but the back actually sits the same height as the front, the shadow just makes it look different.

If you are going to be autocrossing the car, you absolutely want the max front camber you can get. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. At -2.9 (the max I could get with my camber plates), the car was pretty good, but when I added the offset bushings to get to -3.6, it was much faster.

To run the 8.5 +35 up front, you are going to need camber plates and probably at least -2.5, potentially more, to make it fit.

The N5tuner fenders are unnecessary for those tires - just make them fit stock. They will render you illegal for a bunch of autocross classes that the car is otherwise really well suited to.

Enkei EKM3’s that are 18x8 42et with Nitto NT555 G2 235/40/18

Stock I’m 17x7 47et with 205x50x17 front and 17x7.5 47et with 225x45x17 rear

Will they fit without rubbing, doing any fender work, or needing spacers?

Those should be fine. I'm at stock height on 18x8 et41 with Firestone Indy 500 235/40R18 and have no rubbing or fender work.

Still havent decided on what to do, now looking at apex current group buyfor 17x9 +42 in bronze and running a square set up. Would love the 17x9 +30 in the rear for concave but not seeing that happening with a meaty tire.

Canceled out the idea of N5tuner fenders at the moment.

Why are people running 235/40/18 and not 235/35 or 245/35? You're running a taller tire than stock.

Or why not run 225/40? I did (45/17) on an e36, was perfect. And tires are cheap.

235/40/18 are much more widely available than 235/35/18 (tirerack only has one tire available in 235/35/18)

245/35 can have rubbing issues on the front fender and are a little more expensive than the 235/40

225/40/18 are a popular choice, but some people want more front-end grip to help balance out the inherent understeer in the 1-series chassis. Also, some owners want to run a square set of wheels/tires to be able to rotate them, and 225 section rear tires are a bit undersized to handle the power of a 135i.

235/40/18 does not offer more grip than 225/40 if the wheel is the same (width). But I take your points, certainly explains why people think what they do.

A square setup will definitely help with the balance, but to really dial out understeer you'll need suspension work too.

So is your wheel set 18x8's both front and back with the different sized tires? Sorry if this is a dumbass question, it's just been a while since I've driven a car with a larger rear tire set. Pretty sure my current stock wheels are 18x7.5's front and back but not sure as my set is oe spec at Front 215/40 and rear 245/35. Your current set is what I'd like to get to at some point.

SLightly off topic, anyone know the weight of the stock 135i wheels? The 18x7.5's

Notes:
Very slight rub in the rear wheels, although it looks like it is just rubbing on the fender liner and not the actual metal fender. Could dial in more rear camber and avoid or raise ride height. Only rubs on highway speeds after hitting a big bump.

I see your point ..lol. how about 225/40 . 245 fronts might be too wide. fenders are rolled though.
