Any 128i buyers regret not getting a 135i?
I'm thinking about getting a 2011 or ordering a 2012 128i, but I'm really struggling with the decision.
I'm sure it's would be more than enough power for me (it has more power than my current and last 2 previous BMWs), but I have this feeling I will regret not getting a 135i. I haven't driven them back to back, but with the $3K price jump of the 2012 135i, that's over $8K more. So are all the 128i owners happy with their decision? No pangs of regret? If you could do it over again, new 128i or low mileage CPO 135i? (FWIW, I'm looking at 6MT + M Sport for both, those are only requirements). |

only thing I regret about my 128i, is I didn't get leather and OEM xenon.
It has plenty power already.... and I am not planning to do any performance mod for my 128i. M-sport is must for 128i or 135i IMO. 128i's bumpers are too plain and boring IMO. |

if youre having second thoughts now, you will probably have second thoughts later. I have a 125i, the 128 is the equivalent overseas and vice versa. Still being on my provisional license, im not allowed to drive a twin turbo, so sadly the 135 wasnt a possibility for me. but damn, i always think about what if. plus, the price jump isnt really that significant when you consider the 135 comes with half of the 125 options standard and kick ass performance figures. I "may" have driven a 335 and can i just say that the feeling behind the twin turbos was freaking awesome.

You should get 135 if you are thinking you might regret your decision. Trust me on this one or it will cost you more money down the road.
Of course, test driving both cars is a must. |

I love my 128i. It is my most powerful BMW yet. The 135s twin scroll turbo is neat, but the fuel pump issues worried me. A few tweaks of the exhaust and intake along with a real suspension and my 128 has been great. Whatever you do, the M Sport pack does make sense on the 128, as it gives you fairly cool rims, sport seats and a nice, small steering wheel. Good luck, and do test drive the cars back to back, it might guide your choice.

No regrets here. Actually didn't want and still don't want a 135.

My advice....
Consider the following during your decision making process: 1. Your financial position. - Amount of your loan V. Current Income - Your financing options & credit score - How long you will have the car.. - Do you have your shit str8t: No CC Debit/Health of Savings/Retirement ***All relative to your age or years from retirement. If there is no problem. Buy the 135i, frankly its a better car and you are already thinking about it. So buy it. If you do have a problem above, weigh that problem against: The biggest differences between the 128 and 135 1.Twin Turbo 2. Slightly different front/rear end If your issue is with the power, drive both cars several times. By drive, I mean... DRIVE IT! lol If you love the turbo buy the 135 If you think the 135 looks better and dont mind the power difference. Buy the 128i M-Sport. It looks nicer than stand 128i and has the sport suspension and other features. If that doesnt matter. Just get the 128i. The must have IMO is the sport package on either car. The seats, suspension, and black outlines are sick! |

I think it is normal to always want something "better"... more power and to "keep up with the jones's" with mod's etc. My choice for the 128i was initially based a lot on the price difference and my financial situation. However, I can honestly say that I am not disappointed at all with having a 128i. It is powerful, fun and looks great. You have to get to a point where you are truly happy for what you have and how you feel about it, don't worry about what other people say. Without comparing to anything else, the 128i is simply a great machine. 135i owners could definitely say the same about their rides.
Go with your heart, each is a great choice that you shouldn't regret. |

I have to agree with almost everyone here. When I first got my 128i, I had chosen it over the 135 because frankly, I couldn't justify spending another 5-6k, and the 128i was in a sweet spot for my monthly payments. That said, the first couple months of owning it, whenever I passed a 135, I was somewhat regretful. However, now that I have had my car for almost 6 months, I am absolutely glad I got it. Every time I sign onto the forum, there is some *new* HPFP replacement lol. I feel like the extra money in my pocket and fewer headaches every month have more than satisfied my "regret". That being said, I agree with CommaD, you will always want something "better" and there always will be something "better". I learned that a long time ago as a runner, "No matter how hard you train, how much time you put in, or how fast you get, there will always be someone faster" And on a final note to that, farther down the road past warranty I have some plans for this N/A engine (assuming my financials are still great) to make it beat out those 135's LOL

just got my 128i M-sport 6MT yesterday. What can I say..... I love this car.
So freakin amazing to drive. I am on the freeway at 70mph in this car in 6th gear. Hit the gas a bit and the next thing you know... the car jumps (yes jumps) to 80 and just keeps on pulling. Amazing how little effort this car needs to get going. I have yet to really shift after 2300 rpm's. Plenty of power, great handling, and so far lots of fun. No regrets at all. Pics will come soon 128i M-sport and Dinan 5 |

Loved my choice of getting a 125 (128).
I've never regretted it and actually prefer the rawness of the NA. |

Don't regret too much. Only couple things I regret... OEM Xenons and few other exterior mods (135 bumper) since 128 is plain.
Price is well worth it and the power is great! |

Back in 2008 when I was pricing my car a 128 vert was 33K base and a 135 was 39k base. I realize that since I included the HID headlights, sport package, and premium that the shrunk from about 6k to a little over 2k a the 135 has std features that are optional on a 128 and add to the cost. At that point it was an easy decision.
I would imagine that that price differential still exists. It worth looking into |

well, if you're going to keep the car a long time, i think the 128i is the better choice. my sense it's cheaper all around to own: -cheaper insurance, -cheaper tires, -less frequent tire replacement, -less speeding tickets, -probably fewer mechanical issues down the line.
I do sometimes think about a 135i, but in the long run I want a lower cost of ownership so no regrets here.
