CHF 202 Less Overpriced Alternatives

Decided to flush some steering systems in my BMWs and Volvos. The book says CHF 202 which is pretty pricey. rmeuropean.com gets about $15 qt which is about the best I see it for. They also sell Fuchs/Titan and Febi Bilstein for under $11 qt.

I bought a qt of Fuchs and a qt of Febi (Ferdinand Bilstein?) and read the bottles. the Fuchs is authorized by VW and Chrysler and recommended for other European brands.

Both are made in Germany. The near empty Pentosin can says it is made in Mexico for CRP (Conti Rubber Products). Then in smaller print it says Fuchs.

So I say Fuchs it, save the $ and buy the German stuff. That's probably what the car left the factory in Europe with unless they can manufacture and ship it from Mexico for less $.

202 is supposedly the newer version of 11S. They can be mixed.

Oh, didn't know that. thanks.

You've probably found that you can get a kit with 1L of fluid, a new reservoir and hose clamps for around $40.

I think these pliers are nearly a must for removing and installing the clamps:
