Give me some wheel cleaner suggestions from Autozone or Discount Auto Part

I use to use a commercial wheel cleaner from a buddy that owns a detail shop that's been working great for me w/o any clear coat damage. unfortunately though, he is closing up his business so now I have to find a different means to clean my wheels.

I have an Autozone and a Discount Auto Parts very close to my house and I wanted to ask the pros in this forum what would be a good, but safe brand of wheel cleaner to use.

any suggestions on brands from either of the above mentioned stores?

I will never use any wheel cleaners, it eventually dulls the calipar paint. I use a Wheel cleaning brush with soft brissels (sold at any auto parts store) and the same soap I use to wash the car with. I also apply a little wax on the wheels which seems to keep the dust from sticking, a little easier to clean the next time I wash the car.

+1, my recommendation would be to seal the wheels with a quality sealent or actual wheel wax, then simply hose them down and using a seperate mitt specifically for the wheels wash them whenever you wash your car. Just be sure to dump the old water before washing the rest of it.

I have used most of those Autozone/DAP wheel cleaners and personally I ended up with BMW-brand wheel cleaner being the best of them all... supposedly it is actually P21S wheel cleaner but BMW-branded.

Wheel Wax is a great product. I can't believe how much better job it does than regular wax.

+1. Wheel Wax is the nuts. Dust wipes right off with soap and water.

Meguiar's #36 works quite well with wheels that have been maintained on a regular basis.

I use Chrome Hot Wheels on my Stockers, and hose it right off. But I'm gonna be using WheelWax on my new rims.

I use p21s wheel cleaner. Then twice a year use Griots paint sealant on the wheels. They look perfect.

I have heard many good reviews about the BMW brand wheel cleaner and my 128 is in desperate need of a cleaning...is this the product you are referring to, item #3 (ORIGINAL BMW WHEEL CLEANER GEL 16.9 fl. oz. (PN: 83 12 0 405 177); $7.95)?? From what I can see you just apply, let sit, and wipe off?

I greatly appreciate your help!!

For the BMW stuff shown above: Apply, let sit, gently agitate with a brush, and rinse.

It works brilliantly. I think it's basically P21S wheel gel. Great stuff, and your dealer probably gives you a discount. It's like $6/bottle.

And do yourself a favor, remove the wheel/tire and really clean front and back and then coat with Zymol Wheel Coat. You just spray it on and let dry. The next time you wash your car the wheel dust and road grime will clean up much, much easier.

One thing I'm doing guys is that every couple of days (dry days, if it rains this doesn't work) is taking a dry shop rag and wiping them down. They have a coat of wax already on them so the dust comes off pretty easily. Again, don't wet it or use detail spray until the dust is cleaned off. Takes about 5 minutes total and I use the red shop rags you can get from Costco in a huge bag.
