There was a YouTube video by a guy called "carl is onnit" or something that did this. He tried with a box cutter and some other tools before giving up and using a Dremel. I suggest the dremel as you can be more precise. Send pics when you finish. I've been wanting to do this for a long time but haven't gotten around to it.

Curious to see how this turned out. I've done stuff like this in the past and it's always been really hard to make that first cut (or hole drilled, or bolt removed, or whatever). A relief when things work out - normally but not always!

Yeah he seems like a good guy based on his videos, I just wished he had a steadier hand or a cameraman lol I honestly got dizzy watching the videos with him trying to film and also show what he's doing but otherwise it was great Info, If I ever get around to doing this, I'll probably follow his video

Soooo does anybody want the final product update? Car had a mishap about 18 months ago, was told my converters were clogged and this and that and no mechanic could properly diagnose it without taking my exhaust apart. Long story short it was burning off copious amounts of engine degreaser. So does anyone want to see the final product? Everything installed, backup camera, idrive, head unit, gps, 4g Lte. Just ordered new headlights, side markers, grille, oh and I got a usb fan to put underneath oem radio because it was getting a little warmer than my liking at times in the summer along with a temperature probe with a fan trigger.

Well... I won't be copying the work but I'm always interested in what people do, I'm sure others would be as well. If it doesn't take a ton of time (for you) anyhow.

Nope I'll definitely show everything and how. I feel like we can do anything we want as long as we take our time and follow the steps. The dash and backup camera wasn't too hard and I've never done anything like that in a car before

Well the whole process like cutting up the dash and learning all the workings and how to do it the first time took about 4-6 hours. But now I could take it all apart and put it back together in about 30 minutes. But first time be prepared for it to take some time. The backup camera seems complicated too but once I just got down and finally did it. It wasn't bad at all. If anyone is thinking about doing this and needs help we can set up a zoom call and illl walk you thru how to do it
