Not sure if this is your issue but soon after I bought my 135i I found a oil leak in the oil filter housing, I needed a new gasket.

Yeah, that's the oil pan gasket leaking.
Considering you're not sure where that is, you're looking at anywhere from $800-$1200 depending on the hourly rate and how good (fast) they are.

If you aren't 100% positive that your water pump and thermostat have been replaced, do them at the same time.

How bad is it to leave it a while? Car is not daily driven and doesnt affect oil levels at all think it's small leak that's been there for a long time.the oil looks pretty old as well. Was thinking of leaving it and doing it when I do turbos probably next summer

If I were you I would get under there and clean it with some brake clean or something....
See where it's coming from...
If it a small leak then maybe you can leave it...
Hopefully not something that turns into something bigger...

Mines been like that for the last 100,000 miles. For as difficult as the job is, oil seems pretty cheap.

Though now that I have the engine out of my car I kinda feel that leak is from the front oil drain. Even harder to deal with.

Check for oil leaks from the Oil Filter Housing as well. It's been reported that oil can find it's way over to the passenger side like that when the OFHG is leaking. OFHG leak would be more urgent than oil pan gasket leak.

You MUST ensure that leaking oil is not getting onto the alternator nor the serpentine belt.

Yeah, cleaning it is the correct first step, then monitor from there. My 135 has been spotless apart from the valve cover gasket. My X3 had the oil pan gasket go and it looked just like this, but worse. It got to the point of losing a quart ever 2-3k miles before I decided the effort was worth it.

Clean it well and monitor from there. It could be a rear crank shaft seal leak. Finger crossed!

Just had my shaft seal replaced as there's a minor leak. Not exactly a difficult job but a lot of components need to be removed and if you have the right tools.

I am doing a single turbo swap so I'm gonna replace the oil pan gasket. I'm hoping it's not the seal
