Wind noise from dash
Did some searching and couldn't find anything on this. Both my 1ers have had loud wind noises come from the dash at highway speeds. Seems to be from the passenger footwell almost. Drives me nuts because in every other way the car is so comfortable and quiet. Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?

I'm just the opposite with my current 2011 135i being fairly quiet and my 1st 1er (an '08 135i) was pretty noisy.

I've noticed neither of my 135's being especially quiet or well-insulated from road/wind noise, but it's not objectionable either (to me). Most of the time I have the radio on or windows down to listen to my sweet exhaust (PE) anyway, so I don't really notice it.

A while ago, actually due for a new one, but I've "reseated" and inspected it several times as I've worked on the car. That cowl is usually the first thing to come out when I do anything on the engine lol. Why, do you think that could be the explanation?

I was thinking that the wind noise might be originating from a loose/unseated cabin filter.

I've never heard someone compare the interior noise of a 135 to a library. His last car must have been like driving a damn train lol

Yeah. The thing was pretty loud in terms of allowing outside noise in. I had to take the rear interior side panel off and all I saw was a small piece of insulation. Ford might as well just left it off. After spending 8 years in that car as a daily driver, the 135i was a library to me in comparison.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I still have both my Foci. Bought the first in 2001. To test if the wind noise is the cabin filter, switch the HVAC to inside air and see if the noise is reduced. |
