I'm averaging 18 mpg after 5,500 miles with mostly city driving. I'm averaging around 25 mpg on the highway with spirited driving.

But that was then. Interesting to see if there was an evolution over time/distance.

I average about 21-23 mpg, though my work commute is slightly more cow-country oriented. It is still a mix though. Approx 3500 on the clock. More mmmm vigorous driving results in 18 mpg (that was the worst so far).

LOL ...you and I must be the leadfoots here. I'm averaging around 16.9 city and 23 Hiway (but I only hit the highways once every few weeks)

Pre tune was about 25-26mpg highway, post is about 27-28 (when set in cruise control mode say mid 70 mph or driven fairly uniformly).

Sprited driving/cuty dips to high teens

Yeah, that's true...I noticed that my tune also increased MPG, but I kind of expect this with turbo tunes anyway (as I've stated before). My STi was the exact same way...until you start throwing more air into the mixture, then you'll start seeing it go back down again.

What tune did you get?

Over 10k+ kms I've averaged 16.8mpg. On the way back from the BMW Welt 3.0 Meet in Munich I drove... faster than the average bear... and the average dropped to 15.7mpg.

About 18 mpg. highway, 10 mpg. city and 15 mpg. mixed with 3500 miles on the clock and moderate non-spirited driving other than WOT to pass once in a while. I wonder if something is going on with my 1M; it seems to be getting lower than average numbers... Any ideas what would cause a drop in fuel economy without affecting anything else???
