Talking Friendly Challenge - Best MPG

Driving around with a new trans has me moving around like a grandma, so I decided to milk the car for all it's worth and see what kind of MPG's I could manage. Currently sitting at 20.7 MPG average with two days of commuting in DC traffic, that's not bad!!! Average speed was 19mph and total distance is 44.8 miles, almost all city driving.

Anyone else who's interested, challenge yourself to get your best this week and vote in the poll!

Because this is such a circumstantial thing, the only prize is that you will be the envy of all 1addicts for your incredible gas saving abilities.

I usually get right at 21.5mpg in mostly heavy city traffic. I have a short highway drive on 95 and then the rest is Ox Road and then Fairfax County Pkwy. I would call it highway if there were no traffic but it's always stop and go. My last highway trip to Raleigh I got 29mpg which was surprising to me since DCT is only supposed to get 25 highway.

What happened to your original transmission?

My best average was 22.X mpg for a whole tank back when I used to take 90% mountain road with 10% city as my daily route. I could drive as slowly and briskly as I needed there.

Now that I do 50% freeway and 50% city, I only score 21.9mpg average for a whole tank. This is a mix of taking the same route between 35 minutes and 1.5 hours.

My peak highway mpg was 33.X mpg in a 60-70 mile trip. I believe I had a picture of it. In the city, my best was 27mpg over an 8 mile in a purely 35mph speed limit trip.

My car is n55 ppk pe dct

Sorry, I go by SPG(Smiles Per Gallon).

It provides a lot, I'll tell you that much!

21.5 in the city is pretty excellent in my opinion, you really need to stay out of boost to manage anything like that with these cars.

33 is crazy good! Was the wind at your back??? Best highway I've managed is around 31 over similar distance and that was really milking it.

@matticus91 i can't recall but I'm sure the trip was a dowhile as a whole. I think I did 28mpg on the way back. Of course, both ways involved hypermiling to the max.

Best ever MPG was 29.78 on a country road from connecting two cities - about 25 miles apart. Definitely not a flat road and I was not following the speed limits. I don't do hypermilling.

Average MPG on our 1,215 mile long Alpine road trip this summer was 25 and as you can imagine we weren't really going slow either. Two people and luggage on board.

Fuel consumption of this car makes me more happy than it probably should.

Still impressive! And 28 isn't bad either.

Haha I totally get what you're saying. I get goofy about things like this, trying to max mileage has been fun this week, considering I usually average around 14mpg lol

The real problem is the size of the gas tank, though. It is too small and therefore the range sucks. :/

So I know this whole thing is just honor system but if it's legit I'm pretty impressed by the numbers people are getting in these cars!

I wish we did the poll as a multiple choice so you could choose a city and a highway mpg. Would also be good to compare auto, manual and DCT.

Mine's a 128, and on a two-lane northern plains topo (dead level) segment, west across Montana this summer, I achieved 34.x full capacity loaded luggage, steady cruise between 76-78 mph. Personal best.

Now 'city-fied' in PDX for the time being, it's closer to 21! As another post mentioned, the modest tank is a minor nuisance in town.

Shame on all of you.
How dare you subject a sport/y car to such cruel and unusual punishment.
You should be jailed!

I saw 30.5 mpg on one trip to my in-laws house (161 miles, mostly interstate, moderately hilly, about 15 miles stop and go). I ran 70-80 mph with one quick blast to 120.

I have averaged 27.5 mpg driving 160 miles total up into the NC mountains with a mix of mostly windy 2 lanes with a little 4 lane.

Normally I get around 20 in town. The boost is too much fun to try for mileage at home.

Feelin' the need to rehab my image (sensing damage done), earlier on that same trip, I saw 151 and 155 on a Sunday early-morning abandoned freeway in a plains' state...

New PR! 34.0mpg. From Daytona to Orlando (i95 and i4gothowtodrive - flat and straight). ~80 mph. I got fresh oil, a clean air filter, newer spark plugs and well aired tires. All the best combo for mileage.
