How different/meaner will it sound? Are there videos of a dinan stage 3 with the BMW PE? I've heard stage 2, but never paired with the PE, usually it has the dinan exhaust as well, which I don't think sounds as good. Not sure anything sounds as good as the PE. Guess we'll find out soon.

IMHO, it should sound the same. Tunes shouldn't affect the exhaust note but we will see and hear my friend. I sure hope I wont lose that nasty crackle and pop burble but if i did, I would not mind. 373 horsepower & 408 lb-ft of torque is gonna be fun.

Have no idea what an IDEI article is.

The article left me somewhat unsatisfied, too, as the reviewer didn't quite match my opinion of the same car. And now that she has some MPSSs on,... Let's just say her new shoes are nice.

But the article did sum up how my preferences are. I bought the car enjoying the fact it was lacking all of the new fangled nonsense. I don't care about other people's preferences, but it is nice to partake in my own.

But, yeah. The article as a whole is pretty blah. The car seems boring, tech packages are the end of the world, etc. It would be nice to read an article that isn't boiled down to "it's not as cool as a 1M." I understand that it isn't, but it's not like every 5 series says "it's not as cool as a M5." Y'know?

lol, IEDI is a doctor friend of ours from Brooklyn, NY who owns a Blue 135is MT, like the one in the article. Who apparently is oddly missing from this forum tonight.

An IEDEI article would be a how-to article of doing donuts in the snow in NY in a 135is followed by a thorough bashing of the 2-series.

Oh, and call into question the benefits of post break-in oil changes. hehe.

I'm currently on a trek from LA to Portland, and I have to say that, when compared to a Z3M coupe, the cabin and comfort is downright luxurious. And I'm considerably worried that something is going to fizzle out at any moment. Eep, dudes. Eep.

You should just buy a copy. =P Doesn't bimmer's online thing have a free trial to read those few pages?

I love that this is now back to the forefront after 7 months. Ha! I'll blame IEDEI.

I came from a 911 Turbo MT, and before that a Cayman S MT. I put about 83,000 miles on those two cars. I prefer the DCT of my 135is. It is a blast to drive.

My DCT is broken and out of commission. Some joker at BMW forgot to add my fourth pedal, and doesn't have the second stick.

God, such incompetence!

Interesting that you came from a Cayman S to the 135is. I had considered the Cayman over the BMW, but it seemed slightly less practical (this IS my DD, after all) and a bit more expensive. I'd be interested to hear more of your opinions on the differences between the cars

For what it's worth, I rented a 2014 Cayman (not an S) for comparison purposes a few weeks ago, and while I can get into more details later, my take home feeling was that it's an incredibly well built, well-balanced, and great car to drive, but man the non-S lacks that low end power we have. So, even though even the base Cayman costs almost $15k more than ours comparably equipped, I wouldn't trade in a heartbeat, even straight up, money aside.

I think I'd have to obviously get a Cayman S for it to be comparable on the power front, and at that point, lightly optioned it's $70k+ and can EASILY get up into the 80s and 90s. Hard for me, personally, to justify it financially unless I had a complete shitload of extra disposable money. Definitely have thought about it though.

I had a first gen Boxster 986 with tiptronic, and later a 2007 911 with MT. Both fun cars to drive, but I wouldn't trade my 135 with DCT for anything either

OK well maybe a FF. straight up trade. Wait no not even.

That's because Porsche clutches are much too heavy for street driving IMO. I love driving my 6MT 135i, I own both also, and feel BMW got the manual spot on.

I found the heavy factor to depend on the car. My base 911 had a soft clutch pedal, and even more so after I had the clutch assembly replaced at a good dealer. Some S models I drove did seem to have a heavier clutch than mine, but surprisingly not all.
More notable IMO is how long the clutch pedal travels to the floor on Porsches, it's borderline annoying especially for height challenged folk like myself. It's almost like pedaling a bike. I drove a Z4 M and the clutch pedal travel felt like half of that of my 911.

The clutch on my M is extremely light and has a great deal of play. Unless you compare it to my is, and then it's pretty heavy, and more akin to an on and off switch. Meaning the 1 series clutches are... Feathery light, and excessively playful. Which makes driving require much less focus.

The Cayman clutch on the one I test drove was a little stuff, but excellent. The ones I've actually driven have enough miles worn on the clutch to make it perfect.

Manual transmissions keep my left leg ripped. Other activities keep my right arm buff. It looks strange, but at least it's exercise.

How many 135is convertibles have been built 2013

I have a 2013 Space Gray 135is convertible #28060 246 of 264. I see the post of the all the Vin numbers of convertibles built, but what about just the 135is convertibles.
