I've been looking as these for a few months now. Finally decided to snag one. I'm glad I did. Quality is insane.

Pulling the stock knob off was a breeze.. just left it in neutral and pulled straight up on it. I just reused the factory boot as using a flathead to work it off the factory knob. Used a zip-tie (which came with the BFI knob) to secure the boot. The BFI knob came in 2 pieces, the first piece sits on the shift stem and tightens to it by way of 2 small screws and an Allen wrench (both came in the box). The BFI knob just screws on top of that. Once set just remove the adhesive and affix the BFI logo plate to the top of the knob how you'd like. Too easy.

The Black Forest know is very "weighty" which I love. The leather is super high quality and has a nice full feel when shifting. I think it sits a tad higher than the factory M knob but it's negligible. The boot is a little tight, but I think some leather/vinyl conditioner will give me just enough slack. It's still a good fit as is. I would check these folks out if you haven't already. It looks like they make a quality product. Thanks for reading. **Yes. They even sent free gummy bears. BFI for the win.

What made you go for this knob over something like a ZHP or goose neck knob?

While I do like the ZHP I wanted to try a different look and feel. I came across Black Forest through a basic web search. Figured I'd try them out. Glad I did. Almost a week later and after a 500 mile road trip the BFI knob was a great upgrade.. even over the ZHP in my opinion. The knob has a nice weight to it and the leather is butter soft.

Did you end up keeping the stock boot? Just put one on my e92 and the method you used makes me pull the whole boot out on an aggressive 3-4 shift.

Buy the boot. Nothing will work with the stock one. I’m putting it on later this week. I’ve got to 3d print a frame for it first.

Me too. You’re supposed to reuse the old one but I’ve got the ability to make a new one so why not take it. If you end up in the same boat I’ll send you one for the cost of shipping and materials
