Audio frustrations from wanting a bigger amp

Instead of using 1 of the 2 overpriced aftermarket amps that can use an optical signal from the MOST system, or using a MOST converter, which is also expensive, has anyone tried using an aftermarket amp that can use speaker level input. Or a line driver, also using the same speaker level output from the OEM amp? Not exactly SQ, but better than spending $1000!

Audio control amps can handle a quite high powered speaker level input and avoid the need for an external LOC (it's basically built in). Get a 4 channel so you can power the underseat woofers and bridge the remaining 2 for a trunk sub.
