change LED "eyelid" color?
Hey all, I have a 2012 135i, with the LED "eyelids". The 2011+ cars have this.
I have the LUX V3 in AMBER and it looks mean as hell, just a bit weird since the eyelids are still white. I'd like to modify them to make them amber as well. Or off altogether. Does anyone know how to do this? Are there replaceable bulbs in there? Any way to do this without breaking the headlight seal? thanks! |

Guys - you are all commenting on the REVERSE of what I'm trying to do!
I don't want the LUX angle eyes to match the LED eyelids. I want to change the color of the eyelids to match the AMBER angel eyes (or at least be close). Last edited by chiefsalami; 02-01-2012 at 12:33 PM.. |

Can you not remove the stock bulb in the eyelid and find out what it is? I don't have an LCI so i can't be of help without knowing what the bulb is.

there's a member on here from South Africa or something who's done it. I think you have to rewire the lights for the eyelids as he did his as an upgrade from a non-LED eyelid 1er(I dont want to use the term LCI as it is misleading at times)
You might want to do a search on the "LCI" headlight thread. |

![]() just to clarify, I haven't done what the OP is asking with regards to changing the colour - the OP wants to change the actual colour of the LED eyebrow to something else. but you can switch them off if you like, by disconnecting the appropriate cable that leads to the angel eye pin. reason I had to do a custom wiring is because the wiring diagrams were not yet released for "LCI" eyebrows when I did my conversion. |

More pics of the headlights, maybe further away shots. I'm looking at getting those angel eyes also.

The eyelid is powered by a led, welded to a small electric board which is placed inside the enclosure, near to the indicator bulb zone. I think that board can be easily taken off, and I'm pretty sure any specialist can replace the led with a custom one.
In the following image you can spot the wire which powers the led board ![]() |

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I'm about to retrofit e82 LCI xenons to my e81.
As the OP, I would also like to change the color of the eyelid, so I took a look at the headlights today. The board that kore is mentioning is just mounted with a small clip, so I took it out. The board looks like this, and the small yellow thing in the middle is the LED. ![]() I couldn't find any number or writings on the LED, but it should be possible to change it. My hope is to change it with an amber one, so I could have the same look as the e6x 5-series. |

Any luck on making the eyelid LED amber? I am also looking to go with amber angel eyes and would like the eyelids to match. Or is there anyway to code the eyelid LED off?

I haven't looked into it yet.
Yes, you can code them off, or you can just unplug the small connector that's powering the LEDs inside the headlight. |
