Blackline Tails leaking water inside Trunk.
Has anyone had this issue or heard of it? Its a genunine BMW product so i didn't think I would have an issue but the very first night after being installed it rained and I had water in my trunk and my RDC module was fried!
Anyone?

I've had mine on for a couple of months of steady rain, very heavy at times and the trunk area is bone dry.
However, since I got mine gently used and therefore previously installed, I replaced the foam seals with a brand new kit from BMW. I made sure the new seals were installed correctly and the tails were sitting pretty tight, with all corners flush and retaining nuts torqued properly. Did you? |

Been there too
I bought a set of blacklines from schmiedmann. Installed them in winter, no problem, but come spring rain and car washing, water got in the trunk and wrecked the light (just the drive side) almost immediately. Couldn't return because it was over the 30-ish day period and i didn't have the original packaging. Fast forward a couple months to a bad rain storm while i'm at work, and so much rain got into my trunk my amp is now dead. Thats a $800 - 900 (CAD) part.
I ended up recently buying a new tail light as you can now buy just 1, and when i did i went over the entire housing to lens contact point with some PCV sealant, and so far have had no more issues. My advice is just buy a new light, i guess some are just bad brand new.

I second this question...cause I have decided to buy them and tint them darker if I have too.... I found this at ECS are these the foam seals to stop the possible leak? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/63217303319/ https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/63217303320/ |

I received mine today and put them on. I purchased some BMW seals also. I compared the ones on the blacklines with the new BMW seals and there is no difference. I did notice that the placement of the seals on the Blacklines was lame. I had to reposition exactly like the OEM ones. When I put them on I also had to push on them pretty hard (seals thickness) to get them to fit good and tight like the OEM ones and while pushing tighten up the bolts. So in case yours are leaking maybe it is the positioning of the seals and confirming that the seals are flattened and tight against the inner body.????

+1 on the seals
i ordered a set from ECS and the driver side leaked slowly. it wasn't that bad so i got lazy and put off getting a warrantied replacement....until it started to rain and water started to drip onto the amp, which caused the bass to cut out after getting a new set from ECS, no more leaks! the new tail light obviously looked identical and i installed it in the same fashion. when comparing the new one vs the one that leaked, the only difference was how the seal was positioned on the actual tail light |

Removed and cleaned the amp, the board was oxidated in some parts assembled again no poping and buzz but no working woofers under the seat so no bass, ordered a similar cheap amp from ebay and arrived today, need to swap it hopefully will get my bass back. did you manage to get your woofers under the seat to work again? |
