128i in STX?
I'm attending a Novice School with the local auto-x club (San Antonio Sports Car Association) in a few weeks and am considering campaigning the 128i for the remainder of the season. From everything I've seen on these forums, my car would be classed in STX. From reading the 2012 SCCA rules, however, it appears maximum allowed tire width is 245. Anyone have any input on this?
SASCA is cool with me running the car as is (it's on 255's in back) and I don't expect to be competitive as a novice anyway. But I am curious and a little confused, because I've specifically read posters here talk about running cars in STX with wider tires than I have. Thanks for any info.

I just looked at the new 2012 SCCA Solo rules. Yes the 128 is classed in STX, but you are a little off on the 245mm width limit.
The 245mm limit is for all AWD cars classed in STX. For 2WD cars you can go up to 265mm. So your 255s are completely legal in STX. There are also wheel width limits. STX (AWD) is limited to 8.0" wide wheels. STX (2WD) can go up to 9.0" wide wheels.

Thanks for the info. I re-read the rules and I see where it lists 265 mm as max width for STX. I'm not really sure how I messed that up. Guess I was looking at the AWD numbers?
Anyway, thanks again.
