What’s actually required to get enough vertical clearance to swap these out?
I can’t seem to find much info specific to e82 N55’s. I’ve read you have to drop the subframe (hoping to avoid this), I read using an engine support bar to lift the motor a little works, and the last thing I saw was someone using a jack placed under the oil pan. I’d like to be able to go this last route just because I don’t have a support bar, but it sounds sketchy to put all the weight of the motor on the pan.
Anyone know the easiest method?

I would combine 1 and 2. I had my subframe completely out when I did mine but those bolts are plenty long enough to allow you to loosen the subframe down a fair bit while lifting the motor with the bar. Just grab a cheap bar from harbor freight. That what I used and it held my motor in the air for nearly a year while I slowly worked on various items. I fully trust it after that.
