For those of you who have done the golf tee mod...

Have you noticed any drone at lower rpms either during city driving or highway speeds.

I did a similar change on my Z06 corvette with the mild to wild switch which basically opened the additional pipe on demand. I did find that at highway cruising in 6th gear, the drone was more pronounced.

Since the exhaust mod for this car is not easily switchable, I was wondering if drone was an issue.

thanks

Al

Hardly any drone at driving speeds imo.....definitely a lot of drone on cold starts though (until the rpm pin drops)

Drone is a harsh word... really... although it is noticable, it is not annoying..

My GF did pick up on it though after driving the car a couple of times, but not because it was bad, but because it was different.

if you like to hold the RPM's up and not shift, it can get a little annoying, but if you drive spirited... youll enjoy it..

Doing the mod / and undoing the mod takes less time then writing this response..

i just used a zip tie, folded the line and pinched it off.. seconds i tell you..

I kinda did mine a different way when I had my stock exhaust. I just went through the trunk and unplugged the wire for the vacuum line. Rwolf10 showed me that way.

I unplugged mine, stuck a bb in it and plugged it back in, took maybe 10 seconds.

Fyi you can toggle the flapper via some of the OBD apps. This is in BimmerLink.

On the left side of the trunk, undo the one plastic rivit, and pull down the carpet behind the left rear tail light. there will be a little connector where you "switch" the tab, and then the connector will unplug.

Note: it will throw a shadow code, but it's only visible when scanning.
