As I said, JB/Procede/Cobb/nothing - I don't know yet... but thanks for sharing what your crystal ball says.

I noticed it's more of a US-centric item - read somewhere it's because the tunes are for US fuel types. Shame, I really like the concept of flash-tuning via the AP module.

7 speed DCT - MT is fun, but 'fun' wasn't the only criteria for getting this car.

Only a couple more days to go now...

But a couple of quick questions:

01) What's the run-in process on a 135i (if any),
02) Can someone please give me the size of the standard wheels, and
03) Do aftermarket wheels need new sensors or can they be transferred?

Many thanks guys,
Stan

I doubt it'll be ready for collection tomorrow... will probably spend a day or two in the workshop being made client-ready.

1) it's vital to ensure maximum engine power/smoothness/longevity you rip a skid out of the dealership. and take photos/video. After that try keep it below 3/4k rpm for at least the first couple thousand kms... nothing specific, just general run in procedures.
2) 18inch, 215 tyres up front, 245 out the back
3) if you're referring to TPMS that's only on USA cars, our flat tyre monitoring system relies on the ABS system to detect if one wheel is rotating slower than the others... so no need for sensors, you can put aftermarket wheels on straight away.

Haha, as I read that I actually pictured the looks on their faces

Thanks for this, would you happen to have the exact wheel specs including offset? I assume they are staggered from factory...

Bolt Pattern is 5/120.

On the 261M wheels, standard offset is -
Front: ET+49
Rear: ET+52

Cheers!

Well, today was the 15th and as I suspected, no call from BMW... suppose that was very wishful thinking on my part!

Hopefully will be rolling on new wheels by the weekend.

The run in period says:
300Kms for the tyres.

500km for pads and rotors to break in, drive cautiously.

500km for the clutch, engage clutch gently until then.

Up to 2000kms drive at varying engine and road speeds not exceeding 4500rpm
no opening up the throttle/using the kickdown mode (button when flooring it)

After 2000km, engine and vehicle speeds can be gradually increased.

Launch control is also unavailable for the 1st 2000km

Thanks for that, exactly what I was after!

- Tyres is a bit weird, would've thought they'd be OK after 5km
- Brakes = OK
- Clutch = Same for DCT?
- Engine = Makes sense
- Launch Control =

That said, will probably do about 500km in the first weekend of getting it... we made light work of the run-in process when we finished the R34 (couldn't help ourselves) so I think this will be very much the same... cannot wait!

Stan, check the paintwork when you get the car - there are likey to be some swirl marks on her from the delivery wash.

If you like, I can check it over and give you a post-delivery detail (clay to remove contaminants from trucking/train, wax etc) to make sure your paint stays awesome.

You can be the last one on the "Case of Beer" detail offer!

Its gonna be a prick tease for me haha.

I think the rubber needs heating up and cooling down cycles to get to their full rubberyness, thats just a guess though. More likely its just to keep the lawyers happy.

The text doesnt mention for manual or for auto in the run in period section, but in the following DCT section it says to never use the accelerator to keep yourself stable on a hill, its like riding a clutch in a manual I suppose.
From my experience on the test drive, I dont think its otherwise possible to strain the clutch especially without WOT.

You are too kind - I'll take you up on the offer, will let you know about the time/date it arrives

Re the case of beer, I personally don't do free work so I don't expect others to do it. Having seen what you did to that Navara, if beer is your thing then we might be talking caseS not case.

Thanks for checking, I'll be sure to ask the dealership.

Interesting thought about the tyres, never thought about them having some sort of cycle.

Well I know rubber hardens when not used, which is why you need to regularly drive garaged cars cause of the bushings, and the tyres can get flat spots, this is what I have heard from mechanics.

I was just looking up on steering wheel feel and came across a lotus forum talking about new tyres. New tyres have a coating + talc that takes about 200kms to get rid of. Lotus' dont have power steering and they mentioned when they changed tyres it felt like they had power steering for about 50miles cause of the increased slipperiness. So that explains it.

Good Morning Stan,

Good news your car is due to arrive to our dealership in the next couple of days, which means we can look at early next week delivery. I will call you as soon as it arrives.
Also got my VIN - WBAUC92040VM07734, although something tells me that this isn't the whole thing, seems to be missing some letters?
