Is the PCV valve heater integral to the PCV valve, or is the heater a separate component? Or, asked differently, is the PCV valve replaced under this recall?

I am asking because my car - an N51 SULEV - is exhibiting the squealing/squeaking sound that is characteristic of PCV valve failure. My independent mechanic stated that, even though the PCV valve is covered by the 15 year/150,000 mi warranty, dealers in the (Northern CA) east bay have not been cooperative in honoring the warranty for PCV valve replacement.

No, the valve is not covered by this recall. The PVC valve itself is integral to the valve cover.

Go to East Bay BMW. When I took my car in for the PVC heater recall my SA specifically mentioned the SULEV warranty and what great coverage it has.

They get reimbursed by BMW. Why wouldn't they want the business? Maybe your independant is trying to drum up a little extra business themselves.

Should we update the title of this thread to include 22V-119 (the designation of the most recent NHTSA recall)?

Also, BWM Bellevue is still saying parts are not available - is California getting first dibs on parts since they have the strictest emissions laws in the US?

Parts still not available per Richmond BMW last week. They said something about waiting on an updated solution from BMW before any parts are available.

Got mine recall done today N52 in Vaughan Ontario Canada, Maranello. I was dreaming they maybe taking off the intake system, but turned out just adding a fuse to the wire. So when the fuse clips, no warning on the dash... oh well, as long as it doesn't burn down... uber was the ride option, quoted 3 hours, done less than 1 Hr. Didn't get blinker fluid top off

Ooooo, I have a reservation at my local dealer for a special recall service. Look at the dude, he's so happy his car won't be burning down!

Seems to vary by year of your car. My 2013 shows parts available, but my wife's 2008 and 2007 do not. Same part, as far as I can tell.

Got my service scheduled for this coming Tuesday. I also have an open recall for a blower motor wire harness, so we'll see how long it takes for them to get these done.

So that was an all day process, glad I took the Lyft home.
New PCV thingy and the wire kit, and then a new blower motor "cable" and a new blower motor regulator.
No car fires for me!

Anyone remember a meme from like a decade ago that was like a four-panel comic that had an E36 (real pictures) that was talking to itself? It had depression and the text was it describing all the boy-racer shit that the owner was doing to it. But the last panel it was on fire and it finally felt relieved that it could die now.

I'm still trying to figure out the rhyme or reason behind the order of recalls. I've got a 2010 128i with an N52K, but per BMWUSA's recall page, a fix is not yet available for my VIN.

Where in the US are you? I only got my notice at some point late-October or early Nov, and I went in last week. What I thought was weird was that the flyer that was sent to me (the one above) said I only had until from 11/15 to 11/30 as a "Special time frame" to respond to get it done which seems like BS.

edit: I see in my pic it does show the time frame thing

So I am planning on installing the 3 stage intake manifold I have in the next few weeks. My car is currently stored in the long VT winter. Should I have the recall done before or after or does it even matter as it would be the same recall campaign anyways.

Your car should already HAVE the 3 stage intake manifold. Double check before tearing into it . . .

It doesn’t have it that I know of. It’s an N52 from Colorado. It was never a Vermont car

AFAIK, they won't care if you have a 3SI installed.

Also, finally I've got an appointment for this recall...almost a year later (technically, over a year, since the Campaign started 3/2/22 and my appointment is for March 10th).

That's what I am thinking too. Thankfully the local dealer already has the parts for me but there is just way too much salt and crap on these VT roads to drive my car to the dealer. So I might as well install the 3SI and get the recall done in April.

Install went off without a hitch. Service rep commented that the 3SIM was a good idea.

(and two other BMW employees asked me separately if I was interested in selling my 128i to either of them)
